I'm being a grown up man today. I decided that there really isn't a need for me to go to English class. The time I would have spent reading Hamlet for the fourth time in five years would be much better spent surfing the CEG network. Really, even though English is my dedicated major, I can not stand what we're going through right now...all the literature and such. I'm much more of a grammar guy. I love writing essays and stuff, more than I do sitting there discussing some pathetic love story.
This just proves the greatness college has over high school. I can cut class and nobody gives a hoot. I'm sitting here in Starbucks right now, sipping a hot chocolate with a triple shot of espresso and connected wireless to some network on campus. A little while ago I was sitting in the van outside of the dorm rooms and tapped into a wireless connection that had three other computers on it. You wouldn't believe the amount of porn that was coursing back and forth between these computers! Then again, it might have been a male dorm room, so that would make it much more realistic...
I wasn't watching porn though! I have better things to do. SE-CEG
is my porn!
Anyway, big news today. I'm not exactly sure if most of you know or not, but check
this thread from back in July 2003 about having Type 1 Diabetes. Well, today I go into the endocrinology department for a pump evaluation and training. I'm getting switched over to the pump, so I won't have to do actual shots anymore. Instead, I'll be getting a constant supply of insulin relative to the amount of food I decide to eat or not to eat throughout the day. It sounds like a wonderful thing! But I'm still a little worried. The newest monitor/pump they might put me on requires surgery to insert a AAA battery-sized transmitter below the skin around the abdominal area. It will relay my current blood sugar level to the pump attached to a clip on my belt and the pump will feed the needed insulin through a tube into my skin. Sounds slightly painful at first, but I think it's worth a try. I'll be first to admit that I've been getting a little careless lately as far as managing my sugars. Hopefully this will help bring everything back into the ring, but it's not as if I'm raging out of control...yet.
Best deal out of this (take notes Ross) is that I'll be able to indulge in alcohol without worry!
Not that they provoke that kind of thing...
Turning the page, (and I don't care what any of y'all Tennesseey's or Mississipians or Floridafreaks have to say
) I've got just about enough to make a good down payment on a new car. Mum's agreed to help with insurance since it will be more on a new car rather than a used, but I'll have to manage my own financing and everything, so I can build a reliable credit history. Anyway, since I'll be eligible for a myraid amount of discounts because of "owner loyalty" the parentals and I have reached a conclusion and I've chosen a red Kia Spectra5 as the new ride. 5-speed MTX with a sunroof and cruise control. I can't bear to have a car without a sunroof after having three in the family that had them, so I had to go with that. If I'm making the cruise up to Tennesee in June then I want some freak'n cruise. I can do without floormats or leather seats and I do my own stereos so that's not a big deal either. Mum likes it because it has six airbags standard. Dad likes it cuz it's red. I like it cuz it's red. And a warranty is what I'm after here, so I don't want to hear how I should be looking through the classifieds for a CSVT.
Focuses were too much equipped the way I wanted to (SES or ST, no less), Toyota's are akin to visual novocane for my eyes since they're so dull, and I'll never buy a Honda. I counted 267 Civics alone in the big parking lot this morning. I didn't see a single Spectra5 and only five Focuses, all SVT 2-doors. Must be the time of day or somethin'.
Y'all have a good time on your little Huntsville meet. Pump the big guns Eric and eat some extra BBQ for me!
Ross and I will be busy draining our minds during spring break.
Since I'm being so random here, consider this the kick off to the ultimate random topic. I'll even credit SC-CEG (Ray, Josh, Pale Horse, TR and the Hightowers...ahem) for the idea.
Aaaand...discuss!
(it doesn't even have to be anything relating to what I've typed up here, but the girlie just called up and wants me to take her up to a restaurant in Pooler. That's a 30 min ride, so it's time to end this and go get me some RH along the way.
