I am making a post for my self updating with pictures every step of the way. if you have any questions about my project feel free to ask.and if you look my axle and hubs are not in the picture because i am having drive shaft shop make me a pair out of 300m. they should be here in about 3 days.

My new platic lower intake manifold for oval port. and my svt cams under the towel. 2.5 heads in the back round as well as my block to the right. I am going with the svt cams to take advantage of a bigger turbo and my manifold.

I am going with this manifold. He is adding the iac and fitting my throttle body to it. The throttle body position on this manifold is on an angle. Mine will be parallel with the manifold. pictures of mine should be here in a week.

The barely looked touched and the out side two look like they are both ground off to one side???

let me know what you guys think so far and if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Pictures to come are axles, hubs, pistons/rings, synchros, hms shifter forks, my manifold and then the turbo kit. I am sure something else will be added to this list though. rotors...hopefully getting the wilwood ultra lite brake kit when business picks up.

This was my top speed i got up to with my hybrid. My speedometer read 160 but my navigation read 150mph on a detuned hybrid with a totally stock computer. I had my tubular manifod on it too..its dark and blury but you can see it to the right.

PVC oil separator/breather goes there... Little black box with a tube on it that connects to the PCV valve and then to the UIM just behind the TB.

Well i will show you. My camera ran out of batteries so i have to keep turning it off for a while and then back on take a pic, off again back on, so i will post more pics lata For people that don't know these are custom level 5 axles made of a harden chromoly called 300 m and custom hubs by the drive shaft shop to with stand 700 whp

We are currently re-designing the axles for all contour's we now produce(except level 1), in the past we had made some assembly mistakes and never really gave the platform a real good evaluation for racing axles.(I have checked all the level 2 prints and have decided to change the
material on them to a high grade chrome moly.)This should cure the problem with outer breakage. I want to thank you for taking the time to ask about the problems we were having and giving us a chance to show you what we can do. We are currently making a set of custom prototype axles for you and look forward to working with you on this project. please get the hubs to us as soon as possible so we can put the larger spline in them and getthe axles
going.

Can you see any numbering on the bearings at all, letters? Aslo please tell me the inside bore diameter (use calipers). I want to see if I can find some info about those.

Great pics. Those axles look beautiful. I hoping that after things calm down here a bit i can start collecting stuff for a 3.0l swap that will eventually become turbo charged. But right now im trying to find a really good kinda step by step on what has to be done to drop a 3.0L in.

1 inch and 5/8ths of an inch is the bore width. thats the closest i can give you right now with out calipers.

Just got some information from dss about the axles and they are shot peened to make the inner tripod stronger. if this for some reason does not work i can send my lsd in and get the spline modified to fit a bigger shaft.

the inner races are not symmetrically split, i.e. the split does not run down the middle of the width of the bearing.

BTW - those are Audi wheel bearings...I'm trying to get a print of them (in the SKF vareity). SNR is a small French bearing company.

Why does the exhaust cam have the waterpump drive extension on it?

It is the intake cam on the left bank that has the water pump drive on it.

Those wheels bearings that the Driveshaft Shop supplied you are WRONG. After obtaining the print I can see that the bearing are in fact symmetrical BUT the optical illusion was brought on by the fact that the bore are STEPPED! One side has a 41mm bore and the other a 39mm bore. This will NOT work with the Contour hubs as they have a straigh shaft of 40mm. I'm guessing those AUDI bearings are only for Audi's which MUSt have a steb shaft on their hibs. Send thenm back and get the right bearings BAHB633966's! Those are BAHB633815's. Not good!

UIF you tried to use them one side wouldn't even touch the shaft and the other side would put 1000microns of preload on the bearing (if it didn't crack the inner ring during istallation). They'd fail in a heartbeat.

Trust me I know what I'm saying - I'm a bearing engineer.

Because they are 6 cams. How he's going to get them to work is more than I'll ever know. How are they going to work with the SVT (Seq. valve timing)?

.. thereofor you don't have the original size hubs that require those specific bearings... they are different. thats what I figured Brian. Good luck with the install, hope to see some numbers/vids/pics soon!

Listen CHILDREN!

From the pics of the actual hubs you have, they seem to be one diameter all the way down, right. Now, those new bearing you got are for hubs with a stepped diameter, 39/41mm. I bet if you measure your they are 40mm in diameter all the way from one end to the other THEREFOR the bearings won't fit/work.


Look again and tel me I'm wrong, or at least provide a clear side on pic of the OD of the HUB showing the stepped diameter required to use those bearings..

Just because they are "custom" does not allow them to defy the laws of physics.

No its the exhaust cam that has the waterpump on duratecs. The exhaust cams are towards the outside of the engine..

I even have an engine diagram that shows the water pump in the out side. Sounds like i got my self a issue...

2004 mazda 6 cams...

I will have to have the end of the exhaust cam cut off..you were right like "always" warmonger... The escape cams have the water pump extension already...any one recommend something other than cutting or why i sould not cut it.

Why TF are you spending so much time messing with cams? You're not going to get much else on top of what the SVT or normal cams give for a F/I application. What's another 10 hp when you're in the upper 300 range. Why are you wasting your $? You're a prime example of more $ than brains.

How about getting the pulley that MAzda uses on the exhaust cam, to run your WP, or is it not for the WP drive?

But, I just realised - you don't have the pass-through hole in the head to let you do this do you?

I thought the whole point of this project was excess... and what do you mean, "what's another 10hp": you get to those high numbers 10hp at a time, sometimes. Look at Demon... see any one thing that gives killer power (over a straight 3L)? Tweaking is key to a really powerful configuration.

I think this whole thing is rediculous, I'd buy something else. But he's not me, so hey, let's see another 400+ fwhp contour!

if u want peak numbers, why not use the SVT cams? I've already shown that you can squeeze the bejesus out of 'em and put down 475hp on a 2.5L. . .svtprodigy, sometimes I wonder, I mean you probably spent $800 including shipping for those cams . . . .

To get the highest numbers possible, you should've gone 3L+SVT Cams and run 20psi on an 8.5:1 CR engine. . .I BET you could get an easy 425-450fwhp on that.

I got hooked up with the cams for $331 and i picked them up my self.

also we are mocking them up tonight. They look like they should fit. I wish i had my camera when we had them next to each other. I think they will work..I have to cut the exstension off of the cam shaft, and it will be the same. Demon told me this is the best setup. From what i have heard my exhaust cams should be like the svt exhaust cams for high rpm and the escape intake cams make more power down low making power to 7300rpms. I should have alot more than a 10 horespower difference. Ask what demonsvt thinks. He is the one that said to run these.... demon correct me if i am wrong...

No,the only reason i am doing 450whp because terry said that is the border line for power on the stock tranny...I did not get that gear set yet..That is going to be the future project...That cost some $$$$ that i should have at the end of this year... I will keep the power down a bit on the street when i am not racing.

I went over there to say hello, and saw a Black Contour that looked identical to yours. So, I got closer and sure enough there it is...

What baffles me is that you did not even mention who is doing your work. I mean after all Sal did for you, I would at least figure that you would tell CEG who is doing it and advertise for the guys, or at least give them props... But I guess you are not that type a guy. But not a biggie, it's all good.


BTW guys, the shop is Street and Strip Performance (SSP) and it is located at 1100 W Fullerton in Addison, IL. It is about 30 miles or so NW of Chicago.

Lets just say they are good at ripping people off....they lie...Over charge...Can't back up what they charge...Don't hold to their word... when you ask for a break down in price of the work being done, he will give you one price and the things he is doing (time after time)...he is shady..brought my girlfriends car in for a oil change for the first time there...Next day check engine light is on...never has before and there is a screw missing in the head with recent white residue in the whole...Oil leaking from the gasket where the crew is...When i told him i am going to take the car out of there, he ripped the car apart even more and put the heads together to make more money off of me...He honed the engine before he got the pistons, the day after i told him i was taking it somewhere else... When i asked to see my car he would not let me...When i took the car he left my engine trans and every part in my trunk! Not even labled! bolts all in one bucket...pics will be up soon.. put dents in my fender and left quater panel..Shady company... Not only that but they stood there laughing at my friend and i while we carried everything out of the trunk..

Well, there are two sides to every story. I will have Sal explain himself on here personally. I have dealt with SSP on numerous occasions, as has half of CCEG, and we never had issues with them. So it sounds like the two of you got into it a bit.

He put everything in my trunk when i specifically told him i was bringing a u-haul truck...sal never told his workers that i was bringing a truck.. look at the end of the axle...he scraped it up...

You shouldn't have to threaten to take a car out of a shop and bring your parents in to get an estimate written up from someone...I gave him a referral to a respected ceg'r and we went there together and he never called him back.

we were waiting for pistons....the only thing he screwed up was the exterior of the car...Just does bad business...He walked me in to verbal agreements by saying i will let you know how long it takes, "ITS CUSTOM WORK" AND NEVER GETS BACK TO YOU WITH A PRICE WHILE YOUR CAR IS TORN APART. Time and material...but then he used book time and then screwed me...You can take my word for a grain of salt but if you have him give you an estimate i bet it won't ever be the same at the end from what you were orinally quoted...Not even close....

When i was there to pick up my car he would only take cash...when sal takes your car in he has you sign a peice of paper that he can perfom work on the car but has no amount on the paper before you sign...Anyone want to look up the laws on this for me...From my experience it needs to have an amount and a time of completion date on it to be a valid contract before the car is touched.. Its not valid after the work is done and signed...please help...

I have an extremely hard time understanding why Sal would risk his name and provide substandard work. There has got to be a reason that this altercation took place...

from what ive heard is an estimate is to be provided to a consumer for any work started on a vehicle. even though its custom im sure it still applys in this case. everything he is going to do has to be outlined and a base cost including labor is to be assessed. if the shop is to go beyond the outlined information they are to let the consumer know beforehand and cannot complete work until notified it to be ok. this is so a shop cant just do whateve they want and make you pay for it. do a google search for laws regarding this matter in your state, contact your local Better Business Bureau, and if nescessary ask the police or sheriffs dept. what youve claimed he has done is imcomplete work, and you should not pay or be held responsible for imcomplete work. i hope it all works out for you bud. i too cant wait to hear what sal says about it, but since i dont know him i prolly wont care. that is just f*cked up...flat out...

that sucks man. almost been there a few times myself. if id been in your place, i would have personally gone down there with my pops and all of my uncles/cousins, and secretly been packin, juuust in case. regardless of what kind of issues you guys raised with each other, there is absolutely NO excuse to putting a customer's engine/tranny/and anything used in the trunk! that's just asking not to get paid, or at least to have some serious problems.

good job taking pics. if you think you seriously overpaid and he damaged your car, sue the bastid! take him to small claims court. it's your word against his (including witnesses). it appears you've got some $$, talk to a lawyer. file a suit against him. if anything, itll make him run out and put up a few grand for an attorney to cover his arse.

that or just go back there at night. shops like this are usually too cheap to carry insurance....

The pictures were bad enough , but now there are more people stepping up & saying how crappy there experience was. I don't think SAL needs to say anything now. Even if the two sides disagree, what he did was pretty unprofessional & shows us how he handles tough situations.

Word. Read the Dyno Daves post in the SE MI I just recently posted about how I got screwed over by them and have paid $1300 in tuning.

My project has basically taken about 2 years, and its finally done.

AND he paid for that! i could maaaybe see if he seriously shorted the guy, but not having paid him the amount he demanded!
even if he had shorted this "Sal" character, the appropriate thing to do then would be to just hold onto the car until payment in full was received.
IMO, this behavior was absolutely unexcusable and if you have to show those pictures to a judge, Im sure he/she'd agree.

if im not mistaken, wasnt this the shop where your car was supposedly "broken into?" if it is, i think a serious beatdown is in order for these guys.

Prodigy, sorry to hear about your car. As to the cost issue however, you can be assured that because it is a custom job you want done, most places will not give you an estimate on it. They may ballpark you if they really feel like it, but as someone who works on these cars on a regular basis, it's near impossible to tell you exactly how long and how much a swap like this will cost. There is an untold amount of minor custominzing, fabircation, and just plain messing around that has to be done to make everything work right. If I give a hard quote, I've got to be very careful to address every single issue that I think I might run into and to that point I still let the customer know that as issues arise there may be changes to the cost. To that end, I'm pretty much getting out of the installation side of things just due to the risks involved.

yes buckshot, but in that case, the installer should give periodic estimates so that the customer can decide if he can afford to continue, unless of course you drop it off and say "i dont care what it costs i want this bad boy done!"
no matter how custom a job, a customer shouldn't arrive in a month or two to have the shop say, "ok, you us $17k for your $5k car" they should be able to give a rough estimate and then give periodic estimates in stages. its in the best inerests of BOTH parties to do this. im not saying that custom work is cheap, Lord knows ive paid my dues for it, but if an enethical shop thinks they can spring the "big whammy" on their customers and rape them with no consequences, theyre mistaken.
hell, there wasn't even an agreed upon expressed contract between Prodigy and this shop. no estimate. just an implied contract which means that if went to court, the judge, or possibly jury, would get decide on how much is due based on local and customary charges.

Prodigy, if you honestly feel that you paid WAY too much for the "work" that was done to your car, if any, then i would suggest you seek advice from a lawyer. there are many that will consult with you for free, and even take the case based upon a contingency fee. contact your local/state bar association for a list of referrels of attorneys who do this type of work.
even if you DID pay what it was worth, the cost of repairs for damages they did to your car could be subtracted from that. you dont have to "prove" anything. the facts of the case speak for themselves and the court will decide.

My relationship with Sal has ended as of this second...

Can't believe some people. When I read the initial post about Brian's car, I was puzzled in that he did not post any info on the shop.

I go overthere and he tells me that he basically did all the work for just about pennies... Says that Brian did not listen to him, and that he made his life a living hell... Then the last lie was that HE KICKED BRIAN OUT!!!

I just got off the phone with him, told him to [censored] himself, and gave him a guarantee that he will NEVER see another CEGer in there...

I am in florida right now so not much time to type but I need a bolt kit, if there is one for our cars...I have to peice this thing together...I need bolts for just about everything in the engine bay and saying wha they are too since sal stuck them all in one bucket and lost others.. I need diagrams of the peices and the where the bolts go. Should i get those from ford? any help or ideas...I was told by my shop that parts are takin apart that did not need to be takin apart. So i need as much help as i can get...Thanks Brian

Brian, bad luck on your part, with the exception of going to the dealer and ordering all the bolts you need, you're pretty much SOL. If you do go to the dealer and order the bolts, hold on to your butt as it's about to get ripped open! My suggestion would be to take the car and parts to someone who knows where they go without having to be labelled even if it's just for the reassembly. I'd suggest talking to Terry Haines- secondline@ameritech.net as he's one of the few people I know that could do it along with myself and most likely Stazi.

Caution, you should be careful with this one he likes to lie, make up things to get people to feel for him, I know first handââ?¬Â¦ Tried to get me to lie to his parents about this car. He was living with his girlfriend at the time and was lying to her parents as well, trying to get money from all of them. Just wanted to let you know that I was at that shop when he was lying to his and his girlfriendââ?¬â?¢s parents and at the same time to SSP. This guy is a true winnerââ?¬Â¦ He even had me fooled at one time. I had heard from some friends about what was going on there, had to take a look for myself and I see he still canââ?¬â?¢t tell the hole true. One of my friends were their having work done to their car, as they were dropping off some parts, Brian was there. They heard him telling Sal that he wants to change something in the engine. Sal gave him a price on balancing the engine and Brian said he was online and can get it cheaper, at that time Sal told Brian that he has had enough and he no longer wants to work on his car and Brian said ok. Sal asked him when would you pick up your car, Brian said I will call you in an hour. The day that Brian picked up his car, they said that Brian friend was standing there saying their taking your car a part right now and then verbally assaulting Sal, the car was sitting at the door waiting for them to take it. They were not aware that there was an off duty cop that heard everything ââ?¬Å?he was in plain clothsââ?¬Â. I heard that the shop has pictures of the car & parts before it left and that there were 7 witnesses there and that most of them had seen what Brian has done in the passed. ââ?¬Â. I can go on and on about this guy just beware of this one he is not what you thinkââ?¬Â¦Ã¢â?¬Â¦

Man I wish I could understand the above story. But the grammar and basic structure has me baffled.

I've heard stories form other sources too about Brian (aka svtProdigy).....all I can say is I that look forward to someday hopefully seeing the car done, and buddy karma is a [censored] - don't burn people because in the end you will get burned back and WORSE!

Very true. I've been extremely skeptical to say the least, of Brian. With his wishy-washy arguments on here and his almost demanding attitude for answers doesn't surprise me thatshop would load a up his trunk and tell him to find someone else to do the work. But Milan coming on here and backing SSP up, then doing a 180 and almost confirming Brian's story is a little unsettling. And who the hell is Flyinchick99?? This is too much drama for me, so I'll tune back in to this "As Brian's World Turns" in a few days and see if anything new has come about .
