If y'all don't like to read about somebody bitching, then stop reading now.

So here's the deal: Valentine's Day is on Monday. Never been a big fan of this holiday as I've spent all but two years of my 18 in solitude. I requested off of work, but later found out that this wasn't really necessary since I also had Saturday off as well. S'pose the lady and I will do something Saturday night instead so as to have a little more time with one another and maybe some friends since most of them are still in high school (I have a separate group of "college only" friends that I hang out with as well) and would have to be home earlier on Monday rather than Saturday.

She got off work at 4 and I was done with my chores around 5 or so. I didn't roll out of bed until 3:30 because I had gone to bed at 6:15 in the morning after a night of hard partying downtown and then getting smashed beyond belief at a best friend's dorm later on in the evening/morning. BTW, sorry Ross...I couldn't find anybody willing to take me all the way to Statesboro that late at night.

We didn't even know where we wanted to go and knew we would be waiting a while since it was already 6 or so when we got on the road. So we called around while stopping off at other places and eventually concluded that the 35 minute wait at Ruby Tuesday's (of all restaurants, the f'ing one I work at is where we eat Valentine's dinner) is a better bet than the 90 minutes at Olive Garden and 155 (that's 2 hours and 35 mins for the uneducated) at Outback. Whatever. At this point, I was just hungry and wanted to eat.

So our little party of six (three couples) goes in and eats dinner. We BS for about another hour or so and finally leave the restaurant around 10. I had wanted to go see the new movie Hitch and I let the girl know this before we left, but by 10 or so I figured it'll be sold out. She was bugging me the entire time during dinner that she wanted to borrow the ride to go check on tickets and then come right back. We ended up not going to the theatres since we had to give one of the other couple's a ride back home.

Get the other couple home and agreed that we would just go back to her place and "watch some TV" and then I'd get on home after a little bit of that and we would go see the movie some other time. Then things start to leak out slowly as we're progressing towards the house. Now suddenly she remembers that her boss wants her to work Valentine's Day night at her retail job. This coming weekend (18-20) she will be going out of town for a college fair at Mercer University in Macon, so she'll be gone all that time for that. She knows college is a sensitive subject for me, especially since I have the brainpower to go other places, but simply just can't afford to. So I'm still here in Savannah, still living with my parents, going to Armstrong Atlantic State University, a college that costs maybe ten to fifteen grand for a full four-year ride. One year at Mercer will be almost double a full-career ride at Armstrong. Plus, I just wish she wasn't going away so soon, but she's so incredibly excited and talks about it so much that there are just times where it makes me want to throw up. A friend of mine had called and asked if I wanted to go shoot some billiards with him at the pool hall but I said I would call him back because I wanted to spend some time with my lady. We had been with friends all night anyway. Even after enduring all this, when we FINALLY pull in to her driveway, she admits that she's really tired and just wants to go straight to bed.

I was aggravated now. I paid for all six of us to eat since I considered it my treat. As a result of courtesy, I received maybe half of what I shelled out in return, so I'm still out the door around $60 or so bucks when you throw in the gas to get there and then take everybody home. And now, the same girl so eager to stay out past midnight to watch a movie was now suddenly "tired" and wanted to call it a night...at 10:35. I tossed her little gift (a heart shaped box of very sugary malt balls, something a Type 1 Diabetic is really going to appreciate at the rate of one maltball every six months) and sped away. There's still probably about fifty dollars worth of tire in front of her house.

I received a "blocked call" on my cell phone about a half hour after I left. Sometimes her cell phone comes through as blocked if there isn't a good connection between the two companies, so I called her back to find out it wasn't her at all, but a dumbass friend that wanted a ride to the Islands to go party. While on the phone with her, she criticized my driving and said that I didn't have to leave that way, or even bother spending all that money on her and our friends this evening. I said that what I was doing was my treat to her and that I thought some time before she had to leave was a reasonable way to return the gesture. I didn't even want the box of candy since I don't have much use for it anyway. Ultimately, the phone conversation ended in bad tones and I hung up on her, declaring that "we'll finish this in the morning".

I'm just ranting, but please don't add insult to injury by saying "well that girl just ain't right for you" or "you're too young to understand." This is my first fight with this girl and we've been together a solid eight months now, so this is just a little disappointing to me. Especially after having things go so well for so long. And I'm not in it for the booty either.

AGH!! Sometimes I hate chicks!

Chris, sheââ?¬â?¢ll eventually realize your generosity, then thank you. Perhaps she is on her ââ?¬Ë?thing,ââ?¬â?¢ or getting close to it. Chicks are weird, theyââ?¬â?¢ll start thinking about something and it gets in their head, then their mood gets sour. Sometimes they donââ?¬â?¢t mean it. Sheââ?¬â?¢ll be ok, just donââ?¬â?¢t pester her about the situation. Look at it as a learning experience for both parties in the relationship.

At least you all didnt break up the Friday before Valentines Day. At this point, I have a strong dislike towards blonde Floridian chicks.

Youll be fine, it will all work out soon.

You're pissed you can't go anywhere else and jealous that she is. Good on you!

It's cool.

Hopefully you get everything worked out. You can't be mad at her for going off to college. It is BS about her being "tired" but that's the way chicks are. And it sucks being a nice guy sometimes, people will take advantage of it.

Call me if you ever need anything.

It's just stress. I already said that I know I can't stop her from going away. That doesn't mean I should be all cheezy about it.

If you really cared about her you'd be enthusiastic about the opportunity she has to better herself. Put yourself in her shoes man! She's enthusiastic about an exciting new life and you're all pissy and moany. She's going to take that to mean you don't want her to be happy, to better herself, or care about her ambitions. That's easily grounds for breaking up.

What if you did stop her from going away and her life turned to poo, how do you think she'd view you then?

There's colleges around here that offer the same exact program she's going into way over there. That's why I'm not as enthusiastic about it. If she had gotten into Harvard or something like that where only the elite of the elite go, then I might be a little different about it because then I can brag that my girlfriend goes to Harvard.

But point taken.

EDIT: Dallas, you freak me out man. It's almost as if you predicted the future because she just called a little while ago.

She should go to Southern! Wait nevermind. I didn't sleep well last nite because I had too much blood in my alcohol stream. This is a good party town with an increasing college problem.
