It is NOT recommended to use higher wattage bulbs. The stock wiring harnesses are designed to work with specific wattage bulbs. Increasing the wattage of bulbs can 1) melt your housing(s) and 2) cause harness failure which can lead to electrical problems and even fire.
Use higher wattage bulbs at your own risk.
