Been running the BF Goodrich GFS tires at about 40 psi and having a little fun. I really like them. Relatively quiet on the highway & street, good response, more comfortable than I expected in the 225/45-17 size I got.

Got a little bit of a reality check in the rain a few days ago, but I KNOW I was past the limits of pretty much ANY tire at that point. YaHooo! Just havin' a little 40psi fun.

I dropped the pressures a bit, 33 front, 35 rear and on the way home from work tonight drove through the local 800 foot skid pad (2 lane traffic circle) - twice!

First time I was gradually increasing speed and waiting for the tire squeal.... and waiting... second lap turned off the radio... HOLY CRAP these are sticky and not hearing a peep out of 'em! This is on stock SE suspension mind you.

At this point I'm doing the posted speed limit of the roadway+ and the local constabulary enters the circle behind me, then disappears from my rear view. WOW! I'm in deep chiz! or so you would think...

I get out of the circle in my desired route for heading home & the blue lights are on a little way down the road, so I pull over. I happen to know the gentleman & we chat.

Officer: "Hey Jim! How fast were you going through there?"

Me: "45, maybe a mile or two over, sorry about that, I was just checkin' out the new tires." (Hold up employee badge, DL and insurance card)

Officer: (Politely motions to refuse the documents) "That's an aggressive looking machine with those tires on it. I've never seen anybody go through there that fast. Impressive, but slow it down & be more careful."

Me: "Yes, Sir! Do you know a place where I can safely push these (tires) to their limit?"

Officer: "Come buy this weekend & maybe we can arrange something here for a few minutes. We may want to start getting those tires for a few of our cruisers."

I smile as big a kid in a candy store (thinking, thanks man!)

Me: "See you Sunday!"

I love small towns!

Now my wife wants to come along. She loves this stuff.

Took the Tour out to the circle on Sunday afternoon. Off duty cops at each of the three entry points stopping traffic.

Round we went, over & over again! The cops each wanted to drive & just 'bout burned up my tires, but they held the road! Not once did the car get sideways. The tires were fairly quiet, not a lot of squeeling. You can feel the slide coming on so you get some warning before the rear steps out. I didn't pay much attention to the speedo (too busy hanging on for dear life), but I'll run through there again soon. Highest speedo reading I saw was 56 mph, but I wonder if the left front was lifting a bit...

As for the tires, bit worn on one side, but otherwise, I'd buy these every time. Great tires. The policemen were also impressed. I think we might see these on a few of the PD vehicles soon.

Nice. I think I'm moving. Buncha old people down in Florida though right? I think I can only stand old people driving contours at high speeds through curvy roads.
