Hey everyone i have a question about how to drain your powerstering fluid? Would it be easyer to give to mechanic or do it your self. If anyone can help me please write responce. Thanks

By the way i have 1996 contour with 4 cilinders 2.0 automatic.

your powerstearing fluid is an ATX trannie fluid (if I remember correctly) it might be easier to just take it to a dealer.

One way, to drain the system, is to disconnect the return hose from the ps reservoir. Place disconnected return hose into an old gallon jug. With a helper start the car and with the engine runing it will push out the old fluid. Stop after you see a quart or so old fluid and top off with fresh Type F. Repeat till you see clean fluid come out the return hose.
The above is an easier, potenionaly less messy method.

Whatever you do, don't empty enough to suck any air in to the system..

Which one is the return hose? Is it possible to drain the system by disconnecting a hose from the PS cooler mounted in front of the radiator? If so, which one do you disconnect?
