Hi there, I've try the seach first but did not find anything. Is the V6 engine a none "INTERFERENCE". I mean if a timing belt breaks that will not damage the Heads. I know on my Probe gt and Escort gt it will not damage, (MAZDA)engines. Thank you very much.

The Duratec is an interference engine, which is why it has timing chains instead of timing belts.

Since it has significantly more reliable chains you don't have to change timing belts as regular maintenance. (which on a DOHC V engine would be a MAJOR PITA in the vehicle. Especially tight spaces!)

Chains provide more accurate and reliable cam timing as well. Especially under load and quick revving.

Thanks Ford for not cheaping out and using belts!

frommy experience with timing chains they should be ok as long as you keep your oil changes on time. my friend has a maxima and he would leave his oil inthere too long and his chain had to be changed out.
