does anyone else get sick of people saying, ha, you drive a contour? bc to be quite honest i get sick of explaining, no its an SVT, but people just hate on them over and over and over. im just frustrated i guess and needed to vent, we should all get signs that say, yes my contour will smoke your civic. granted theyre not all modded and stuff but whatever.

i know what you mean......i was recently in traffic school where the instuctor, mr. traffic, who was about as straight as a twisty mountain rode and drove a red convertable celica thought that my beloved csvt was a girly car far less cool than his. he even laughed and made cracks about my car

First off, yes, you do drive a Contour. Yours is not *that* different a vehicle so as to omit the "Contour" out of "SVT Contour" Secondly, nobody seems to put down my car once they've had a ride in it. I even got "is this thing turbocharged?" once by a Cavalier owner and complete stranger (he ran out of gas on an offramp, I gave him a ride to the nearest station) ... and I wasn't even driving fast! I take criticism of my car with a grain of salt nowadays because only I truly know its capabilities (and limitations). You really shouldn't be that bothered by what other people say, especially if they haven't had a ride in your car.

our cars are not crap, I've smoked many people in Mazda 6, Toyota Celica and so much Civic, even some lightly modded ones. And my Contour is not the best of the 'tours, I have no performance mods and my car is only a '96 Contour GL Sport, it's not even SVT... I think people judge too much by the look of the car, it's true that Mazda 6, Celica and some Civic can look better, but it doesn't mean they're faster.

Put a 3.0L in it and it will be a total GL (Sleeper)

i told him to take it around the block and then tell me that it is a girls car.....he declined. atleast though there were a couple of cobra owners and a lightning owner there to back me up. even the guy with the e55 gave some respect.

Normally I'm surprised they even know what it is. (99.7% of them don't)
It's not like I would tell them otherwise. I'll let them think they just got smoked by grandma's 4 cylinder ATX rental car. 
Heck even most of the people that know about Contours don't believe SVT ever made a Contour.
I have a better story...
I had to FIGHT to be allowed to entire a Fun Ford Weekend a couple years ago. The person would not let me in because it was only for Fords.
I told them that yes It was a Ford but please don't tell anyone. They actually got mad and told me to turn around. (actually there were very beligerant the whole time!)
Then I shot back. Hey you might want to look at the front grille. You know; the one with the little blue oval on it that says Ford. They still almost didn't let me in because they didn't believe it.
