so i went outside to take the beater(84 b2000) around the block like i do every other day just to make sure it is still running fine. this time however the brake light didn't go out when i released the e brake. when i would come to a complete stop for the stop signs the light would go out, then come right back on again as soon as i got going. while i never exceeded residential speeds everything seemed fine, i.e. no funny smells or vibrations. the last time it was really driven, two months ago, all was well. any ideas?

doh! it just occured to me to check the brake fluid which i will do in the morning when i can see.
