I start jury duty next week.
My main concern is that my work does not pay me for more than 10 days of service, which includes jury selection!!!!which afterwards, would put me and my fiance in to finacial hardship as i make about 75% of our primary income.
She does not make nearly enough to pay the bills and the rent....i was told by many people that the courts are cracking down and no loner "care" about situations like these.
My question to you guys, is that true, and if so, is there another way i can get out of Jury duty???
Im not looking for off the wall answers, im looking for ligitamnet excuses...thanks for the help guys!!!!

i have seen many people get good resutls with the truth. explain that there will be a severe financial hardship if you are required to serve at this time and request a postponement. i requested a postponement a few years ago and then again 6 months later and the issue has not come up again since.

There really isn't any excuse unless you're dissabled or if someone else is under your care. I'm sure you're aware that you can ask to postpone, but I don't think that would help you too much.
With that being said, in my business law class, the professor says that the first people kicked off of a jury selection are disgruntled men, 35+, that have strong unwaivering oppinions. So if you go and act strong and set in all of your opinions, you'll have a good chance of not being selected. -Travis

when questioned of your feelings on the case say 'well, he's in court - he MUST be guilty!'

someone tried that when my friend was last up for duty, and the guy got escorted away by some armed people and the judge was really pissed.

Realistically, it's not that hard to get out of jury duty. Maybe not permanently, but I've been summoned 3 times so far and excused each time. I'm a full time student (that will get you off alone) and have a full time job. I had my district mgr write a simple letter each time. "If Jonathan can not work, it will ensure hardships" and blah blah. Hell, I wrote the second note and had somebody sign it. Now that it's too late for you, like Dtox and the others have said, act very opinionated and stubborn.
