Ouch!
Sounds like you have other issues.
My 2.5L put down 190's and 170's.
An SVT 3L oval port should be around 200/190.
Could have been a Mustang Dyno...
You should know better than to compare #'s from different Dynos...

Now that I have a couple of thousand miles on the motor, I'll be going back to the dyno (probably a mustang dyno here in the DFW area) to get another baseline. Dyno Dave's did my original tune.
I really wanted to see how my numbers compared to other N/A full 3L's. Also, I'm getting about 20MPG (mostly highway driving) which is worse than what I thought it ought to be.

Dyno Dave's in Michigan? And 20mpg?!?!? There's definitely some issues. What injectors are you running? What MAF? I actually get better MPG with my 3.0L than I did with the 2.5L..

Have you checked all of your injectors? I assume 19# injectors correct? You could possibly have an injector stuck open, or even a small fuel leak(probably not the case).

19# injectors. I haven't checked anything and it's really because the engine runs fine, pulls hard and hasn't exhibited any problems. Once I get another dyno with an A/F plot, then I might make some changes.

Do all 2001+ taurus, sable duratecs have oval port heads as well? You only mention the escape heads. The plan so far is 3l oval port heads (Im going to attempt a DIY port job as well) SVT cams, SVT Upper and Lower IM and then do some more research on 19 vs 24lb/hour injectors and MAF to match. I will have all the parts available to me from the two engines, i just want to make sure i have the best combination.

Yes they will have the oval port heads. But that is not the main issue. The Escape has the revised oil pan where as I believe the taurus/sable does not. Also, the escape motor can accomodate a cam driven water pump where as the taurus/sable motor will need an EWP..

Was you 2.5L tuned?
Is your 3L tuned?
I get slightly lower MPG with the 3L. Roughly 1 mpg "comparatively" so it's minimal and my driving is a lot more city now so that means a lot more ZOOM ZOOM.
The 2.5L was 23-25mpg in mixed and 28-30 on the highway The 3L is 21-23mpg in mixed (more city though) and 27-28mpg on the highway.
As you all know my foot is lead and redline is my friend so I have always been pleased with the mileage I could tune out of the Duratec. High efficiency in all stages of operation.
