I phoned the local dealership today to get pricing on a new set of front calipers for my wife's 96 GL. They told me that the caliper and bracket have been updated and that I would also need to buy new brackets to match up to the newer calipers. All of this doesn't come cheap, the total would be $975 Canadian or $828 US.
Have any of you guys heard of these updated calipers brackets? I have sent an email to Steve at Signature LM hoping for some answers but I wanted to pick your brains as well.

Cost me a total of $100 for rebuilt calpers for my SVT (mine are the smaller type calipers) after the core charge. My advice is go somewhere else.

Now you know why we call them Ford $tealer$hips.
You can upgrade big-time for that kind of money. Check BATinc.net for some great upgrades, or go online to Signature Lincoln-Mercury & get 25% off some reasonably priced OEM parts. They should be relatively easy to install yourself if you are so inclined, or just take it to an independant shop. Midas did a good brake job on my sweet mothers Lincoln once uppon a time, total cost just over $400 rotors & all... on a Lincoln.
P.S. There's a thread just below this one with Ebay calipers for $10 "Buy it now". I don't know what kind of quality they are, but they're reported to be NEW. Check it out.

I paid 161 for one loaded caliper with bracket and pads from a ford dealership in PA when all I really needed was a rebuilt bracket for 16 bucks. what exactly is wrong with your brake calipers.

I paid around $360 (after core) for 300mm Focus SVT rotors and loaded calipers. Just go on and upgrade; your wife will love it.

I did a quick break check with my lady in the car when a raccoon wanted to know how well the FSVT breaks work. Very well, just ask the 'coon.
