So did we all want to plan a larger meet for Spring 05? I have heard Winona has quite a few but any input would be nice. Also more than 3 cars next time would be nice also

Sure, what the heck. I'm sure some of us would prefer just contours/mystiques, but personally, I prefer more people over just contours.

Hey Flemloid 3.0L, you should bring your ride to Winona for the meet on sunday. It cant be more than an hour drive, and it would be a fun one on Hwy61. Think about it!

I would but the 3.0L isnt installed yet... I found a deal on my 3.0L with 1600 miles for 540 bucks on car-part.com... so I bought it but I dont have enough $ to install it yet... and I dont have the equipment or the skill to do it myself.

HA! I wish... I have my '86 4 speed mtx Ranger (with no clutch) or my moms wanna be pimped out 2000 Silverado shortbox... She'd let me take it but she would shoot me when she saw the miles I put on it. Plus it only goes 100 then cuts...hhehehehe found out one night in the cities on the freeway racing some black dude in a pimped out caddy. Good times.

Well you could drive it here and then ride with one of us if you wanted. I am sure it wouldnt be a problem, unless the drive to Winona is too far...

But yeah... if could ride shoty w/someone that would be tight. Get to know you guys... I will be able to join with my car next spring though.

But uh serious....anyone here mind having a passenger?

You definitely can ride with me if you want. I just bought a V1 so I wont need the Passport! I might actually have an extra contour here lol, thats if I get it back from my G/F in time. otherwise we will be rolling inthe svt.

Ok everyone the meet is going to take place this Sunday the 24th in Winona. We are going to meet in a parking lot by the big lake between 12 and 1230. Directions to the Big Lake parking lot:
Take Hiway 61 from whatever direction you are coming to Winona and turn North (toward the river) at the intersection of Hwy 61 and Huff street (there is a light there) You should be able to see the two lakes as Huff st runs between them. The big lake is the one on the right as you head toward downtown. You will want to take a left on the lake frontage road that goes along the park to one of the parking lots where we will be meeting (not sure which one yet but you'll be able to find it easily) The frontage road is the first right after you drive between the lakes on Huff. We will most likely be meeting in one of the parking lots across from the softball fields.

illpost more later this evening i have to run!

Ok heres the update: We will be meeting at the big lake again, same directions, except for the parking lot will be before the softball fields if everything pans out right. Otherwise it will be along that same road. The road you turn off on Huff is Lake Park rd, which is the first right off of Huff after you go through the lakes.

I figure we can talk cars probably grab something to eat since its around that time and maybe go for a quick drive if everyones up for it. The best place for lunch would probably be Jeffersons Pub & Grill which is 58 Center St if anyone is running late and wants to try and catch up with us, if you get lost going there the number is 507-452-2718.

If anyone is having any trouble with directions or anything you can call my cell which is 507-313-8351. Hope to you all there-Doug

Were not exactly sure what happened. Unfortunately the Taurusarus didnt make it home and had to be towed

It was a great meet (with the exception of the above issue), too bad the rest of you guys couldnt make it. We couldnt have asked for a more beautiful day!

So yeah... Looks like I will be building up an 3.0L form and escape and swaping my dead sack of auto trans for your lovely MTX-75, built for racing of cours. Might be awhile before I am up and running again.

Anyone have any ideas what I should get for an everyday driver? I was thinking maybe a Lincoln LS or a mazda 3, 6, rx-8. Any other sugestions?

If you can afford it go with the RX8, if not the 8 then go with the Mazda6 6speed v6 and finally the Mazda3 with a 5-speed. Thats the order I would look into them at. However I would go with a CSVT until 2006 when the Mazda Speed 6 comes out with the 270something hp! Thats my plan!

Buying cars new.... I will never do it...almost pay half as much 20k miles and 1 year later... Maybe I'm the only one who isnt comfortable enough to pay $30k on a vehicle that loses its value faster than you can pay for it.... Tell me I'm not the only one.

That made me sound mean... but I'm not trying to be a jerk.

<--- see....happy.

Well... unless you want an automatic, there is no 6-speed Mazda6 V6. The manual is a 5-speed, though the MazdaSpeed will be offered with a 6-speed manual, though it sticks you with the sedan body, a turbo 4, and AWD.

Flemoid... while I agree that a new car is a terrible decision from the aspect of financial analysis, a car is not solely a financial decision. Buying new allows you to be at the fore of the auto market versus a little behind the curve. It also allows you to break in the car and know how he was treated his whole life. This has value to many people, including myself.

Depending on what you need a car for, the Mazda RX-8 may or may not be the car for you... It's a great GT car, but if you need to use the rear seat regularly for people or cargo, it's not practical enough to also be hauler.

This is why I bought a 6 hatchback.

Hey man, sorry to hear what happened, wish you the best of luck of getting everything taken care of .

To kind of bring this back to topic, what do you guys think about the weekend of May 14-15 or 21-22. I kind of want this to not necessarily be a 2 day thing, but longer than a couple hours. Personally, I want to go through at least one tank of gas. A quick idea would be something to the effect of Winona to Wabasha to Zumbro Falls to Rochester to Spring Valley. You know, a nice, long, cruse to show off our tours, and to see what they can do if you know what I mean .

I can't believe you've heard of spring valley... I assume you've been there... that would be a great place to go... Why 29 runs right through it... no cops on that road from Menomonie to River Falls... none. I know... ive been on it over 500 times i bet.

I was talking about Spring Valley, MN. But my idea was just a quick tour of South East Minnesota with quite a few roads where we could clean out the exhaust systems . I can just taste one of them now, 10 miles of straight, flat roadway where I found my governed speed multiple times (55 MPH for those cops out there of course). Keep the suggestions coming, and how about those dates, I was hoping for a date after Spring Semester is over, yet before Spring Zing. RCTC gets out on the 11th.

Yeah, if I go with a car, it will most likely be from mazda, not sure which one it will be, also thinking about a truck, so I can trailer my Taurus to the track once it is up again. (no longer going to be a daily driver, gonna be pure race)

Yea, I dont even know what I'll have for lunch, let alone know whats going on this spring. We'll keep it on the back burner and pull it out once that snow starts to melt.
word.
