To fit the six speed you require the six speed 'box for a UK Mondeo ST220

and i wouldnt call a 4.44:1 1st gear short

1. The MSP is turbo'd.....there is more power UNDER peak than the SVTF. I haven't compared the two directly, but common sense tells me that is the reason. I'm not sure on torque numbers for both, but I'd be willing to bet the MSP has more torque also....and to finish, .2-.3 seconds in "bench racing" is almost within a margin of error.

2. I hope you're talking about the ZX2 S/R, not a normal ZX2.

3. What's "knowing a guy with an SVTF motor in his ZX2" have to do with anything whatsoever?

PS, let's take this post elsewhere, we are in a sticky that is supposed to be used for noobs, like yourself.Thanx.

the book time on a SVT is 15.9 the book on a ZX2 is 15.7. the SVT can hit mid 15's but if the traction control is turned off. The average driver in both cars will be hitting about 16.1-.2 all day. The SVT will not pull on the zx2 untill after 70mhp if both launch and shift right.

I mentioned teh swap becaust u said that the SVT needed that gearing, but many svt drivers are trying to change the gears, and the zx2 with its gearing and svt motor will run 14's all day. Even if you take the 200lbs difference off the SVT it wont be running 14's all day like a 150whp zx2 will.

oh i just thought of something that deals with a focus and the six speed tranny. Since the new focus has a Duratec 2.3L in it, would the bellhousing be the same as the v6 duratec, just thought i would ask since they are both duratec's. if they are the same then all that would really need to be done would be for ford to release a 6 speed that fits that duratec, and then swap it over, dont know if it would be that easy thou

Yea um ok hen's tooth post. What's the point of posting about something that will not exist. No point in a 6 speed anyway. As posted it is a weaker tranny. Ppl must just want to say they have a six speed. The ones that would have the knowledge and $ to do it don't even want it.

No..the 4 cyl and the 6cyl duratec have nothing incommon besides the name.

EDIT: Terry Haines has imported the Six Speed Mondeo transmission for 2.5 and 3 liter applications. But you would have to contact him directly.

Don't bother. (An SVTF owner here..) Too much hassle. Some SVTF guys have considered removing it and replacing with an MTX-75!!

1st gear has the bigggest sprocket they could get into that thing. It's still relatively tall. (runs out at 40mph..) You can break the speed limit in 2nd.. Gears get closer once above that, and 6th is not an overdrive. Despite all this, 1st gear is lower and 6th is higher than a Mini-S...

And the MAX input torque on it is rated at somewhere around 150Ft-Lbs.

Need I say more?

BTW: Requires a two-piece flywheel (tortional vibration dampener...)

I'm glad you came on and posted this. I also thought a six speed might be great, but I really learned that I don't need it at all. The five speed has pretty darn good ratios.
Maybe a taller final drive with all this power I have, but that is it.
