Mercury Mystique/Sable Performance n/Chip 20+HP

120'Ohm Mystique Sensor

Here is how it works:

You have probably heard of performance eprom chips. There chips consist of a stock computer program that has been altered to inject more fuel into the engine under acceleration. Timing curves are commonly also adjusted consequently. These chips can be found to be quite effective, but also pricey as you not only need the chip, but also a socketing kit. You then need to do some soldering on your computer board which can damage it and cause it to malfunction. On the other hand, this 'piggy back' electronic device will alter the fuel and timing curves in a very similar way as the eprom chip would, but without even opening the ECU. How can it do that? By fooling your computer and letting it think that you are sucking air at a different temperature. Your computer will respond with increased power!

sad, but so true. i think tornado and ebay resistor's make up about 83% of all "general mod" topics. radar detector posts make up the other 17%

I'm just looking for cheap mods that don't cost an arm and leg.

But agree, if these things are bogus then it's time to sticky them!

It's snake oil to think you'll get 20hp from it, but it will work.

You can get a resistor at Radio Shack and put it in your Air temp sensor housing, instead of the sensor.
Not sure which resistor to use but it would be cheaper. My guess is less than a buck!
Same as using MIL eliminators.
All your doing is tricking your engine to think it's colder outside and dump in more fuel.

Very bad if you want good fuel mileage though.
