ok guys heres another question from me....on my 98.5 GL, everyitme my RPM's go pass 3500, i hear a whinning noise... then when the car shifts, it goes away until im back around 3500...is that the zetec, or a hose???? im stumped.

Zetec is the name of the motor....its not like Vetec.

Listen to your engine in park and rev it a lil, its probably your "ram air"

no the intake has a deep sound to it...before i put the intake in, i could hear the whinning, so its not the intake

the whinning could be your belt...certain blets make a sound like a supercharger...one of these belts is a goodyear Gatorback belt.

If it is rpm dependent, I would say belt.
If it is speed dependent, I would say its plastic. (Problem I have)

yup, mine does a whine also when I got a new belt, I got a goodyear. I think it sounds really good. My Power Stearing pump is relatively loud to. My engine sounds like its from the future

thanks guys....i switched my belt, and the whinning is not as loud anymore
