I doubt its random. Count the number of times it blinks. There should be a certain number of blinks, a pause then the last number. Let us know.

Sounds to me like just a bad connection or bad wiring. I had the same problem with the sensor on the other side. I took it to Ford, and all they did was clean the connector, and plug it back in. The tech told me he had seen several Contours come in with the same problem. I guess the connectors arent the best quality.

Im sure someone with more experience will add some input tomorrow.

Dont worry, the bags wont go off in your face while you are driving.

I would have just disconnected the module - I did it 'cause I got rid of the driver's airbag altogether (when I installed my steering wheel) - os, unless you want to keep your air bag that's what you wanna do:

"Just unplug the main connector that goes to the little airbag computer. It's in the console below the stereo towards the passenger side (pull off the little plastic panel on the pass side of the console). Then just look for a module up in there. Disconnect the connector, if if the airbag light quits blinking then you found the right box."

This info I got from Josh.

mine did the same blinking sequence: 4 then 1, Right Hand Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open-- turns out there was a "splash sheild" recall needed on both L & R sides. Cleared the warning light for 2+ years. Blinking has come back in the past 6-12 months from time to time, but this time around, I dont seem to care about it.

Have also heard the airbag/SRS light blinking is a sign of a battery going south. Same with windshield wipers coming on for no reason.

Where might one find the code interprets for the air bag system. Yesterday and today, I've had some flashings going on with this light. I seem to only remember 3 flashes and a pause. If I see it again, I'll watch for pulsed counts closer.

The pulses are "flash-flash Pause.. flash LONG pause.. repeat... that would be a 2-1..

Check for moisture in the electrical connector on the RH front sensor harness. (disconnect battery for a good 10 minutes before messing with this system...)

also, as stated, the battery having really low voltage can cause an SRS light, or wierd speedo, tach, etc..

I've had the batt disconnected for about an hour now. (Lunch time) Going out and going to check the plug on those sinsors then reapply power and take for a short ride.If it comes back, I'll watch closer for a pause between any of those flashes. All I remember is the very long pause, but if one is happening somewhere in the 3 blinks taht I think I saw, that pause must be very brief.

Thanks for the feed back on this issue.

I've got a "32=Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open" I heard a slight plasticy sound turning my steering wheel the other day and then it came on. Any ideas how to fix it?
