$159 for a red top is way too much, that's how much the yellowtops are. I got my redtop for under $115.

this topic has been gone over a thousand times. You will never have to upgrade your alternator on a contour due to a stereo. Upgrading your stock ground wiring for your battery will do wonders.

Already did that with no improvement at all. What guage wire to you recommend? Maybe I didn't use a thick enough wire.

Do the magic 3 first - Upgrade battery negative terminal to ground, the engine block to ground, and the alternator positive wire to your battery's positive terminal.

Ok, last question then. Is the ground wire going from the block to the chassis the wire under the air intake? It stretches from somewhere under the engine and then is screwed to the chassisright under the intake....just want to make sure its the correct ground to upgrade. Also, what guage wire do I upgrade to? I'm upgrading to an optimum battery today and will start upgrading wires as soon as i hear back from someone.
Thanks for your help guys!

Ok, I just went out and replaced my battery with an optimum redtop....no difference in the lights dimming.....i'm upgrading my ground wire again...to a bigger guage. Hoping it has an effect on it. Also looking into a 2-3 farad cap since i'm pushing 1000 watts.

My lights dim a lil. I am thinking about an optima red top. I am also thinkin about wiring my Alpine Directly to the battery. How hard was this? I don't install any car audio shiz. It just isn't my thing. All my other mods I have done myself.

check all your connections, it might be a ground or something.
