You know. I honestly have no idea what the warranty is nor do I even care. I bought it solely because it performs better and has better torque biasing.

I picked mine up for under $600 shipped. It also had the bearings pressed on and a new speedo gear. (I.E. straight drop in and didn't need any $$$ shims)

Like I have stated countless times before.
I choose performance and Torsen has a great track record anyway. (for instance several race teams switching to it over the Quaife )
It is really as simple as that.

Well not to say you're wrong, because I wouldn't want to have to try and defend myself... But I paid about the same for mine, and I didn't pay for shims either... Nor did I pay for installation... Hmmm.. But Im happy with the performance it's brought to my car... 2.2 60' times, I know they can get better, but it's better than average I'd say... But if I had the Torsen I'd probably be pulling 2.0's and doing wheelies somehow

Ok I'll stop with my rant, nothing against what you're saying, I could really care less, I'm just bitter tonight about things other than this

Hey bob when you say poly mounts, are you referring to anti-roll links? If not, where did you source yours from? I am looking for addtional poly bushings for suspension for my car, and all I found so far are the anti-roll links.

Granted, I drive a Maxipad, but I think my experiences probably can apply. My car makes ~200fwhp/195+fwtq, has an open-diff, and weighs 3200lbs with me in it, and I've noticed that with my 17s and grippy W-rated tires, traction really isn't a problem assuming the surface I'm on is smooth, the weather isn't terribly cold, and the street isn't wet or covered with salt or dirt, etc. I can punch it in 1st at any sort of RPM and get a slight chirp of the tires and then grab 2nd and get a nice bark. Now if I put my stock 15" rims on which weigh the same as my 17s, traction becomes pretty limited. From a roll in 1st I can easily roast 2nd and get some pretty crazy spin into 2nd and then bark 3rd if I really try.

I think it all comes down to tires. Tires make or break your traction whether it be acceleration or deceleration.

How the myth that a Quaife will make a car drag faster got started, I'll never know. It only helps protect you from BREAKING the diff during wheel hop. With an open diff, both wheels get powered in a straight line!

The Quaife really shows its capabilities in the CORNERS!

Easy. Getting a Quaife would allow you to run stickier tires (drag radials), therefore having a faster drag.

Amen. My Maxipad with an open differential is pushing quite a bit more torque than most 2.5 liter CSVTs and I never have problems with "peg-leg" launching. I always spin both tires in a equal line assuming I'm going in a relatively straight line and the surface is uniform.

Limited slip differentials will not make you much quicker off the line. LSDs are more for powering out of tight turns. If you want good straightline acceleration, get drag tires. There are quite a few Maximas with open differentials getting 1.8-2.0 60 foots with slicks and drag radials.

I updated my sig because I also had an ECU at the time. My I've run five 14.4s with mphs ranging from 97-99mph, but my car is one of the slower ones for the mods I have. A lot of guys are getting 14.1-14.2s and one got 13.6s on slicks. I plan to run some low 14.2s with drag radials in the spring.

'nuff said.

I do believe you may be overstating the case here. The bias ratio is different between the Torsen and the Quaife, but the Quaife does not cause erratic handling as you are suggesting. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Ask anyone here on CEG with one if they think their car has become harder to manage in a straight line since they installed it.

I personaly have driven many Quaife equiped VW's that are much faster than any Contour and one Cougar (Vortec equipped) and they didn't seem to have much of a hunting problem while accelerating hard. My buddy's 13.22 second Quaife equiped 92 GTI tracks straight as an arrow down the quarter mile. One question Demon - have you driven a Quaife equipped MTX-75 or are you going on internet heresay and second hand info?

Both the Torsen and Quaife are good products that will enhance the inherently good handling of the Contour. Not trying to bash you, just don't want you scaring people away from a good product.
