Well if it's the orginal key that won't turn then the inside of the lock must be messed up. A tumbler isn't moving like it's supposed to.
I think the dealer can prepare a new lock for you without too much hassle. The lock removes from the car from the inside. There is a cable attached to it going to the latch.

I have this problem occasionally.
Try a few different things.
1.) Try wiggling the key up and down while turning it.
2.) Try flipping the key over, and see if that works.
3.) Consider lock deicer. Additionally, you may have something jammed in the lock (salt)

I have 1995 Mondy, and I had a same porblem, my master key (with remote) couldn't open the trunk, but regular PATS key could so I figured it was the key that was the problem, it simply had weared out. So instead taking the PATS key with me (you don't want to loose that) I just had new, plain, key cut and it works.
