I really hate to say this, but not only do vehicles sell for next-to-nothing on eBay (When a fully loaded, newer Mystique ends at $3K...), but modified vehicles often sell for the same price as regular ones. I have not seen a 1998 SVT break the 10K range in recent months, and I unfortunately sense a bad prediction for this relisting.
Additionally, no matter how much you scream "Never Been Raced!", people will assume that a car was made to go fast for that very purpose which leads to the insinuation of more wear and tear than should be for the vehicle.
A note: I highly recommend you take some high-res pictures in good light, as well as a multitude of pictures highlighting specific good points of the car! For example, this SVT looks gorgeous thanks to the photography, as well as the aforementioned Mystique. This SE's photos give you a good idea about its condition. The sellers of these two BMWs go to great lengths to give you details of many aspects of the car, even down to the engine bay, tire treads, floors, seats, headliner and trunk. (Can you tell I'm car fantasy-shopping, lol wish I had the money now! )
You are trying to make it appetizing, and giving people eye candy is half of the process.

thanks, but I'll disagree.
prior to posting, I saw a 99svt with 17 in rims, and nice stereo, a kkm, and aftermarket exhuast, plus other 'look nice' mods go for $14k.
I figured if that thing could get $14, well...
as to the pics, you got a point...

The highest recent deal closed seems to have been for $6400. See ebay: http://search-completed.ebay.com/ws/search/SaleSearch?exclude=&sapricehi=100000&ebaytag1code_tmp=&sapricelo=5000&ebaytag1_tmp=&ht=1&satitle=svt+contour&from=R6&sorecordsperpage=50&sosortproperty=3&sosortorder=2I wish you the best of luck, but I'd think you'd get about 8k at best for the car. I base my 8k price on an ebay market value of 5k + 1/3 of the 10k aftemarket parts value. Cars just suck at holding value for the most part. Also, many people are adverse to buying a modified car, especially if it includes forced induction on a NA car, etc. That narrows you down to people would buy a modified car AND can pay for it. To a lesser degree I feel the same concern with my car. It's got 96k runs great but has a host of mods (suspension, brakes, exhaust, wheels, custom bodywork, audio, etc.) which might make many people leery of buying the car. My other option would be to try and trade it in, and I am sure that it's even less tantalizing to a dealer...would go straight to the auction I am sure.

well, lowered asking price on ebay to 10,500.
I'm takin such a damn bath on this ride if it sells for that. worst investment I've ever made...
still a great car, but learned my lesson: don't spend all your $ modding your car unless you can toss it away....

An investment...?
Cars are a continously depreciating asset in >99.9% of the time. Some lose value faster/more than others, the Contour not faring so well in this arena.
Cars are NOT an investment (notwithstanding the occasional concours-ready 1963 split-window 'Vette). If it soaks you for 3-4k, so be it. Look at it as a lesson you can walk away from.
See this link for some perspective on the matter:

BTW - if you want to sell on Ebay you need to change your game a bit...don't set a reserve & set the car to $5880. If you don't get any bids over 7k in the last 24h of the auction, close it out. (Expect another 1-2k in the last 24h) It violates Ebay rules, but it gets people bidding on the car...once they bid they become passionate & will bid up and up...
