My local dealer has a set of 16" Focus rims and tires that are TO's from an 01 for $400. They couldn't tell me with 100% confidence if they would fit on my 98 SE. Can you guys? In general, are all OEM Focus rims/tires compatible with the 98-00 Contours?
Thanks - I'm looking to possibly upgrade from the 14" steel rims and hub caps on our new beater car we just purchased.

They should fit. The Focus shares the same wheel bolt pattern as the Contour.
Plus I think a couple of guys around here did they same thing you are thinking about already.

yes they will fit. both cars have a 4x108 bolt pattern.

I've got 15" Focus wheels on my wifes Zetec. They where 300 shipped with brand new tires and lug nuts. It's hard to beat that.

i have a rental focus right now and put my csvt rims and racing tires on it for auto-x and they fit like charm.
98 svt t-red
kkm,bassani cat-back, superchip,pulley,B&M,18" konig toxxins w/ 215/35zr18 falkens, stock rims with 215/45 falken azenis for auto-x,limo tint, 3-12" alpine type S's and a A6001 xtant amp,XM radio,alpine cd,xtant a4004,alpine type R 5 1/4 components up front,boston acoustics highs out back, eibachs, kyb gr2's,sub frames,bat high flow y-pipe, street glow underbody (red)

Sounds like a guy here who rented an F150 to go deer hunting  yeah...any more fines and it would have been cheaper for him to BUY the truck!
