Ok so recentally I had gotten complaints about my trunk vibratin so violently that it could be heard over my subs from a distance, and I could also hear some trunk vibs on certain frequencys. So in a effort to reduce the trunk vibration and the rear dash I used some stuff called "Great stuff" insulation foam in a can. I spread some over the trunk contact points and threw some in between the sheet metal and also under the inside rear glass. So basically I made it airtight (also foamed the 2 air releases on the side of the trunk). It did stop most of my vibration but I lost most of my "kick". It mostly became more of a thud. I was wondering if there was a way to solve this problem. I love the subs for the reason that they had major kick and not a thud noise. Would cutting out the 6 inch sub whole in the rear and putting a mesh grill over it help relive air pressure in the trunk or something give me ideas or advice.

Well I hope you didn't get any "Great Stuff" on any of your exterior paint! That stuff is STRONG! I made the mistake of sealing up a new front door frame on my house with that stuff, without any gloves!  Got a little bit on the carpet, and it was impossible to get out. Sorry I couldn't answer your question. I just wouldn't have used it on automotive paint. Mark

Sorry I couldn't answer your question. I just wouldn't have used it on automotive paint.

Nope non on the paint only on interior of my trunk and a little between the glass and rear dash. I found you can clean it pretty nicly with a razorblade and sandpaper

your trunk vibrations are not being caused by the air passing through the rear deck. In a sense its caused by panel flex. You need to deaden your panels (trunk lid, floor, quarter panels, rear deck etc.) That is what Dynamat and the other companies do, they take the tin-like flex out of the pannels its applied to. Don't block your vents, your heater and a/c are going to struggle when your windows are up. And you'll be trapped in your own farts because there's no where for them to excape the car.

Ive taken car of the rear deck removed the insulation now all there is some in in between the sheet metal and between the trunk lid and hatch contact points. The only vent that are blocked were the outside air vent that only go between the inside of the trunk and the outside air. I just need a good opinion on what i should do OTHER then dynamat I dont plan to spend around 100+ fixin this problem.

In my experiences, that extra $100 you dont want to spend should always be included in your estimate of a good sounding system. To kll the rattles that the subs make you almost always have to deaden panels. Thats the price you pay for good sound.

nonsense my arc audio powered 150 db hittin cougar has no interior rattles...besides the evil shielding on my gas tank...:(
