I'm not trying to start a fight but just discuss. I like how it's set up and i've been here awhile and i am happy with the way it's all layed out, it's the only forum i can easily manuver. i don't think the change is really needed. discuss.

I am not techie, but my RX-7 club is on vBulletin. I see little advantage or disadvantage to it for me, certainly no reason to switch.

Fine, switch if you must. But for heaven's sake, PLEASE keep the layout and hierarchy the same!

+1 and the Colors, you NEED to keep them the same, it makes the forum so much brighter and easier to read. I Love it.

The only things i wish we had were Quick Reply and more Emoticons, i dont want Avatars and i dont want Sigs with pics.

I like simple, and this is what this forum is. sure more emoticons would be cool and stuff but i don't think we need a whole switch of forum severs.

I feel like a CEG old fart now. Based on registration dates, most of you (ZoomZoom excluded) were not around for the switch from UltimateBB to UBBThreads. The color scheme remained the same and the forum hierarchies were the same, excluding a few local forum switches (e.g. Connecticut's own forum was deleted and integrated into NECEG, some EGL states rearranging, etc). I believe some engine forums were created around that time as well (Duratec Performance and Maintenance, etc). I doubt any of this will happen this time since the forums have been pretty set since then. Off-Topic, decidedly our most controversial forum, was deleted for a month, but that was a mistake and a half.

This upgrade has been pending since at least 2004 when the database started to act funny - it's not an upgrade "just because." Lance or the admins would definitely have more to chime in on other behind-the-scenes reasons why.

That said, I do like UBBThreads over VBulletin personally (loads much quicker, cleaner interface, etc) but if we get a decent search function back then I'm all for the upgrade. Plus VBulletin handles posts differently (e.g. individual widths) which allows for easier viewing on smaller screens like my cell phone, and there are a slew of features designed to be easier to use and compatible with more machines since today's technology is more varied than ever before.

i'd like a "view new posts since last visit" link as well as a "view replies to your posts" link that are easily accessible from the main page.

i also think we should allow avatars. i didn't 3 years ago when this was brought up, but i do now.

my 2 sense.

Brian was making a pun. A play on the homonym sense / cents. Unfortunately, I haven't either in my possesion.
