The solid dowel pins in the cylinder block were deleted around the 1999/2000 model year as they were not necessary. You only need the solid dowel pins which are in the cylinder head.

i appreciate your help, i realized my mistake pretty quickly, i was comparing only the bottom ends when i noticed the missing dowels, b/c i was rebuilding the 2.5 heads up at a friends machine shop, but no problems so far. Built the engine and installed it in under 22 hours. I just have one question. I have a 2 pin plug that is green around the back of the engine that i can't figure out where it goes, it has a black/white wire and a brown/yellow coming out of it. Any suggestions?

I don't remember the color of wires offhand...but if it is a round plug thats green, could be an o2 Sensor. I won't be able to verify the wire color til tomorrow or something though....might want to check it out.
