A good friend of mine had an 02 and now as an 05 SE-R spec V. The 02 had a recall on the engine (his wasn't replaced but a lot were) and the engine in his 05 crapped out with like 8k on it. They are decent enough cars but I wouldn't buy one as I don't think they are the same level of quality you used to get in Nissans. My buddy has been lucky and leased his.

Do you have to buy a US spec car? I was looking at the military mart's website and they have a real nice looking Audi S8 for $19,995

It won't be the cheapest thing out there to maintain and repair but it sure is hawt

Doesn't have to be US spec, but if I like the car enough, I may want to take it back to the States instead of hastily trying to sell it when I get orders.

The catalytic converter breaks up and gets sucked back into the engine and kills it. May also want to put some loctite on and retorque the screws on the intake butterflies. They tend to come loose.

I see there was a recall on the precat, but on the Nissan Forums, they say to do the same as you mentioned anyway.

Do you know anything about the engine failures? Seems to be the precats failing is the only major issue... Installing a header on a 4 cylinder will be cake after putting headers on the SVT!

Conyers is a suburb of Atlanta. It's East of downtown outside the perimeter.

I personally would get something you couldn't buy in the US. Not many opportunities after you get out to do that kind of thing.

Best of luck with whatever you choose.

Not many Euro spec cars for sale in my price range that are appealing to me... This Opel Omega is the only one on their site.

The $/ΓΆβ??Β¬ exhange rate sucks, so buying a car from a German dealer costs more than it should. Like a 10.000ΓΆβ??Β¬ car will cost me $12,885.

But anyway, I drove that yellow Sentra, it's really nice... no weird sounds, vibrations, etc. He also said I can have the stock taillights and rims (shipping not included from the states).

I was approved for this car by the credit union here, so all we need to do is have him talk to Nissan and see what he needs to do for the car to get paid off, and it's mine.

AFAIK, the engine failures were just because of the precats. One friend got 2 new engines, and another got 3,, but I'm pretty sure both were precats getting sucked in. And you're right, a 4 cylinder header install is easy.

He told me today during the test drive that:

1) He's never had it in for recalls since he owned it (5,000 miles)
2) Car is under extended warranty, but doesn't know if it's good over here

So pretty much, first thing I need to do is get a header for it and put that sucker on. If I get an "S tune" one, the warranty remains intact.

OMG I have a headache... all the cars here in my price range blow harry balls!

However, if I was still in the States, I could get something like this Saab 9-2x for cheap as hell!

Damnit!
