A Solo Baric, no matter which one, from the old school round ones to the L5 and L7's are good subs, but there are subs that will demolish them for SQ and SPL. Case in point, AudioQue SD2 8". It needs 1 cubic foot ported, 16 square inches of port, and about 500-600 watts to do 141 on a TL mic. Don't believe me, call them, when I did, I talked with the owner of the company (who also owns Digital Designs (who own many dB Drag and MECA World Records)) and he told me that his son (who runs DD) has one in his Mini Cooper, and those are the kind of numbers he is putting up. Now, I'm sorry, but an 8 that can do 40's on a TL, for 89 bucks a piece, that's REALLY hard to beat...
