Hey, I have a 99 svt, and I was wondering if you guys know what the knocking sound is I hear when I hit bumps. Its a really hollow sound. My quess is the strut, but it doesnt seem to be out of gas or anything. I compressed the spring, and noticed that there was rubber falling off the top of the spring, could this cause this sound, since it would be metal on metal. BTW it has 141K on it, orginal struts as far as I know. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CEG!

That's double their life!
Once the fluid dampening ability completely stops they wear out quick and may break from topping out. Do a bounce test on each corner of the car.

Also check the swaybar mounting hardware.

My guess would be either upper strut mounts or sway bar end links.
