It doesn't always do it, but when it does it, the airbag light flashes a 4-2 code (left-hand collision sensor from what I could gather)

I suspect a bad connection/wiring, since when it's warmer outside and not as humid, it won't do it.

I assume the sensor itself might be located near the bumper, but couldn't find anything in my Haynes manual.

If I'm not able to fix it, I don't really care for airbags, but I don't want an inspection to find out how much it's gonna cost to get it fixed, so I want to have it stop blinking (short of pulling the light out

Mine flashed a couple of times - all it was is a dirty connector each time. Connector is right behind the radiator in front of the battery. Pop it open, spray with electronic parts cleaner, reassemble. No more flashing error code! I think the vapors from the battery get to it. I had the same problem with my LeBaron. Everything next to the battery needed cleaned more often.
