Thanks for your input!!!

After having the car for a while I have come to the conclusion that any valve train noise is normal for this type of four banger and not related to say any VCT stuff. I originaly posted and thought there was something in the VCT loop, but even the Ford dealer I got a recent opininon from after looking at the car said the VCT and timing are find. I should focus on the P0340 (my only code) as a symptom of any rough idle and not a direct result of any CPS issue.
I have had the valve cover off a couple of times to look at the CPS wheel and such and the cam lobes and such look imaculate.
I like your suggestion on the injector clean and will add it to my to do list.
