Hesitation: Improper EGR operation, bad fuel pressure response...

One last thing...What does it mean whenever you're driving down the road, maybe up a hill or something, and you hear a slight diesel sound??

Pinging: Carbon buildup, oil consumption, insufficient EGR...

Thanks Roger...looks like that'll give me something to do this weekend then . I'll get some Seafoam and run it through, and check condition of the EGR to start with. If time permits I'll probably clean the intake while I'm doing the cleaning thing.

yes I was in park...but i didn't floor it. Just a quick pop of the accelerator. Much like if you were to just tap your foot on the floor really quick. The pedal isn't even depressed a quarter of the way when I do that.

Put a bottle of gas stabilizer in the fuel tank and see if it helps.

I find the Duratec V6 does not rev if you jab the gas, yet no problems with the power at all! We have 2 cars with that engine, both are the same. My SHO revs in neutral better..
