A co-worker here just bought an '06 GTO with 400HP 400 Torque. He took me for a ride at lunch today and let me drive it back! Damn!!! They changed a few things for '06 like ram air hood scoops and 18" wheels, so it stands out a lot more from the Grand Prix. Rides and feels like a European sports car, but roars like an American muscle car! I'll always remeber where those black strips on the pavement came from at the entrance to work! heh

I used to think my next car would be nice and sporty, and fast. That was when gas was $1.25 a gallon for premium. Now I'm like - yeah those 4 cyclinder Fusions aren't too bad. Hmmph.

Hi Mike: Another change was better looking exhaust. They used to exit on the same (driver's) side.

See you on the 22nd

Well, the GTO that my co-worker had is no longer with us. He was driving back from upstate NY yesterday when he missed a shift from 3rd to 4th and put it in 2nd. He was on a slight curve and the rear wheels lost traction and he spun out into a corn field and flipped end over end a couple times and then side to side a few more. He walked away because he was wearing a seat belt. He said he would've been ejected if not for the seat belt.

Wow. Glad he's ok. Was he not used to the car yet? I mean - 3rd to 2nd by mistake?

Yeah, he was at work today and acted normal. It wasn't until I said, "how's it going", when he said, "bad". He's got a little red mark on his neck from the seatbelt and some bruses on his shins from hitting the lower dash, but that's it!

maybe the curve made him sit a little crooked in his seat, so what felt like straight down turned into down and to the left. meh I dunno.

This guy is a tank. Apparently he only has a mark on his neck and small bruises on his shins, and the airbag didn't deploy!!

Well, the shifter is pretty notchy. Apparently, the GTO got a different shifter than the Monaro. One of the most popular mods is to change out the shifter to the Monaro. It also has a wierd lock out thing. Something to do with fuel efficency or something. If you are taking it easy when you start out it locks 2nd out and you have to go right to 3rd. Some kind of stupid GM thing. He's not blaming the shifter though. He said it was all his error.
