In doing some basic searches I found little information on this device. The advertisement claims it can flash any 96-05 Ford. Has anyone used one of these devices and does it really work? If so, is there any information regarding advise on what changes to make to increase performance? I know that depends on modifications, but I haven't found much written on the subject either. I'm wondering whether it would be best to buy an Xcalibrator and make changes on my own or take it to a shop that has a dyno? I'm kind of leaning towards the dyno for multiple reason.

yup, a few have used it. There are two sources people are buying them from. Brent and www.brenspeed.com and the other is www.hypillauto.com. No dyno results from hypillauto, but Y2KSVT posted a 10 hp gain from his tune from brenspeed. Run a search in the dyno and drag and general for more on this. Actually, theres a thread on the first page in the general regarding this.

I'd go with the first way more than the latter, especially after tour96se's issue....

here we go again, once again the main reason for tour96's problem is that he flashed it with a chip in the pcm. its really not cool to talk crap about someone when you dont know them or have never done buisness with them rtstabler. anyways either way you go definitly get the xcalibrator you will love the outcome man.

I'm not on either sides here but RTStabler is just looking out for CEG'ers... Maybe Once I see a sour deal like this on CEG, I stay away. For example, how that Dan dude was painting the headlights, and then started screwing people over. I wont ever do business with him now. Or this wayne guy now, it is very unprofessional that he is not returning calls or emails. I dont care what the problem is, you dont just leave your customers hanging like that!!!! Like I said ryan, I am not pointing fingers and am sure that Wayne is a stand up guy, but I will not do business with him after the bad reputation he gave himself.

If Rtstabler51 can't talk smack about him, can I? He and I are good friends, and he knows about the situation I had with Wayne. Not only does he have a bad reputation with some CEG'ers, but he's yet to prove anything with a dyno. I do recall a promise of some dyno graphs, but I'll throw that into the bucket of promises I received from him that have ALL fell through.

I'm not talking crap. I am giving one advice. You see people complain all the time on the board because SP didn't have a part in stock and it's X days late, etc. I am merely informing someone, that someone purchased the referenced item from Hypillauto, and has recieved less than acceptable customer service. And that is all. I have not said one thing about tuning abilities, etc. All I am referencing is customer service. Period. If I was talking 'crap,' you would know it.

I guess I don't understand how poor custom service is 'talking crap.'

Anyways, as Jim said, brenspeed is a new alternative that we have here that Mark (Y2KSVT) seems to be happy with, the other 'known' is Arizaon Dyno Chip (ADC). You may also look into the twEECer, however I can't remember if it supports all our EEC codes or not.

oh yeah, how could I forget about ADC!? I have confidence in ADC that they could get you a burn almost spot on the first time seeing as how many people's mail order SCT chips are almost perfect.

Btw, I believe RTStabler was reffering to Hypnotic Illusions customer service and not the quality of the tune.

Yes, but in Wayne defense, ADC's customer service was actually WORSE than Wayne's in my endeavor. I called, left voicemails, emails, PM's, etc for Shawn, and he never got back to me. I was ready to give him a credit card # and get the Xcal2 out to me that day, but the sale didn't seem important enough to them. I looked around for an alternate sollution, and remember talking to Brent @ Brenspeed back during Spring Zing 05. He made an awesome offer on Xcal2's, but I just didn't have enough time to round up 15 people for a group buy. So I gave him another call, and he was more than happy to help me out. His tunes speak for themselves, as I've posted dyno graphs of his "through the mail" tunes..
