I had exact same problem. I used clear GOOP glue and it has held it fine. Pulled it out somewhat, put glue behind plastic chrome, duct taped it together, dries overnight.
Dont use a colored epoxy, use a clear glue. GOOP will flex so if the plastic pieces expand in the heat, it can move. An epoxy would be ok, but if the plastic wants to move with temperature change, it could be a problem?

I've used duct tape for two fixes in my car already! Interior door handle(little white plastic part on the inside kept coming out) and one of the tabs on my chrome ring...not perfect but did the job good enough.
