It doesn't prove that at all! I had 2.5L heads on my 3L for over two years without a problem.
In my opinion its that fuggin 0w and 5w oils that allow it to spin. I have never run thinner than a 10w-30 oil and usually run a 10w-40 oil, and even run 20w50 on the non-turbo engine form in deep summer. I've abused my engines all times of the year as much as anyone and I've yet to spin a bearing.
I am really starting to think it is the oil viscosity and the tight clearances on these engines.

Russell,

Do me a favor and take pictures of the crank, where the rods bolt to the crank journals. You should be able to see the culprit the minute you drop the pan. Remove the offending rod/piston and then bolt the cap back on the rod and measure ... I'd bet $100 that the journal opening is oval (out-of-round).

Ditto. Only I have closer to 21,000 miles. All stock block parts, 3L pan, 2.5L SVT heads, no problems, driven HARD.

29k miles on my Hybrid. 2.5L oil pan. 5w30 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. 2000 3L had 11k miles when I picked it up, and clevite rod bearings were swapped in for the stock units. I'm now finding out how this motor likes nitrous

A 20% shot from the Venom - we aren't sure of the nitrous "hp" amount, but it's the smallest hit you can give it. when we tried a 50% on the street we were like "HOLY SH!T THAT'S AWESOME!"

What was the measured rod bearing clearance? How about the rod itself - were the ends measured? Was rod side clearance checked? In fact, there are numerous measurement which need to be taken/verfied when doing a rebuild. Possibly these were all checked, however wanted to ask up front.......
