To tow or not to tow.
To Tow
Not to Tow

Ok, so we're not sure whether to tow the SVT to spring zing. Here's my thoughts.

Pro:
- Keep miles off SVT.
- Keep relatively clean. All bets off if it rains.
- If someone else breaks down we can swap cars.
- Reduced chance of road damage.

Con:
- Better gas milage with SVT.
- More fun to drive with SVT.
- Less stressful.
- Better Sterio.

If it was me, I'd just drive the SVT out there.

You'd probably be able to shave some time off the trip, it would be much cheaper for tolls and gas, and a hell of alot more fun to drive out there!

Unless you're prone to breaking things (like me) or you have a car modified enough that it might not start if you look at it cross eyed (strangely enough like me again), I'd say drive the car. You'll spend a lot more time, effort, and money towing the car if you aren't all ready used to doing it on a regular basis, plus you also run the risk of breaking the tow vehicle, flat trailer tires, etc, etc.

Take this from a person who IS towing their car.

drive it. my answer would be different if a) the car was not street legal or registered, 2) you wanted to sell it at spring zing, or iii) you were towing something of "significant" value like a classic Bentley or something.

Fuel, if you tow you'll likely use about double the fuel you would if you drove just the SVT.

Tolls, you'll be paying the same toll for the truck as you would with the SVT plus most toll stations figure tolls for vehicles in tow by the number of axles on the tow vehicle and with your 2 axle trailer I'd say you'll pay double for tolls.

Comfort, well its tough to say, you know your vehicles so you know how comfotable each is. In terms of driving stress towing the trailer might give you a little more stress mostly if you get into trafic or tight spaces.

Plus, if you should happen to encounter less than ideal road conditions like construction or rough roads the truck and trailer have suspensions and the high aspect ratio tires to handle those conditions more-so than the SVT.

But, its all the less miles on the SVT, a good chance the car will stay cleaner and like you said if someone breaks down and needs a tow you can be the man of the hour and offer up trailer services and you could even capatolize on it and get some money for your services.

Isn't this one of the reasons you initially invested in the truck and trailer. Being able to trailer your cars to events.

If you happen to get restless you could always stop off at a rest area, unload the car, stick Kim behind the wheel of the truck while you let off some steam driving the SVT.

I'd say trailer the SVT and see what adventures unfold during the journey.

i would say drive because that is what it is all about but then again having the trailer for anyone who might need it if they break down is also a good thing

I'm on board with Baco. You have a really nice SVT, but its a performance sedan perfect for highway cruising. And as Baco said, as nice as it is, it's not a historically significant vehicle. Over the past year, I've become very anal about the Miata (covered in the garage with carpet patches under the tires, etc.) but I'm constantly thinking about all of the fun I'm missing out on by not driving it more. I plan on having the car for as long as I can afford to justify keeping it (hopefully forever), but I'd be bull$hit if I was injured or something and could no longer drive it.

...you're only preserving it for the next owner...
