I recently installed Wilwood FSL front calipers on my '98 CSVT. I followed all the instructions for bleeding the lines, but I got a soft pedal. I bled the lines two more times (along with the clutch) and I still get a soft pedal. The odd thing is that it is not consistent. Sometimes if I get on the brakes I get a decent pedal - other times it will go almost to the floor. It seems that as the brakes get used more and more over the course of a day the worse they get. The next day I can start off with a decent pedal and within a few braking cycles it gets progressively worse. I'm not sure what else to do now - I'm thinking that maybe my master cylinder is going bad. Anyone run into this problem before?

If I didn't send you this bit of data; final bleed on the calipers should be done with the caliper in a vertical manner. The offset mounting brackets place it at an angle where the crown of the upper most piston can be 'over center' so to speak and trap air. The easiest way to do this is to jack up the rear of the car. Or you can unbolt the caliper or bracket and pull it outward a bit to get the bleeder up at 12 o-clock rather than over nearer 1-2 o-clock. It's just that the bleeder passage it a vertical line passing through the caliper.

I did jack up the rear of the car, though I didn't get the caliper vertical. I'll try removing the caliper to get the bleeder pointing straight up.
Aside from the bleeding problem, I love these brakes!! They are going to be fantastic on the track.

Whoa!

Hold it!

You're in Peoria?

And you have Willwoods?

We gotta talk...

I was just talking with the guys out at Hoer Racing Products to see if they could help me get Willwoods on the car. I showed them the BAT site and asked if they could do anything for me locally. They said they really couldn't without customization like BAT did.

Also, we just gotta talk because you have a '98 T-Red SVT in Peoria.

send me an e-mail at soundqsvt"at"yahoo.com

OK - I fanagled the car and calipers to get the front bleeds vertical. I bled them and I didn't notice an improvement. Just for fun I did a gravity bleed of all four wheels, and I still don't think it helped.
Is it time to bite the bullet and get a new master cylinder??
