If I Recall Correctly

- It means, I think that 99s have good WPs, but I'm not positive.

i think a 180 is sposed to be in there, i know everyone goes to the 160 thermo but it doesn't help much unless you kick the fans on early anyway

Your thermostat should have a air bleeder valve in it. This should be pointing up or should be located on top when installing thermosat. If you install it on bottom, you don't allow air to escape easily.

Yeah the bleeder valve on the thermo is on the top side. i tried to get the air out of the system but it still went to the red line. i took the top radiator hose and poured coolant down it until it filled up(hopeing to eliminate air in the engine and other coolant lines. then i filled up the reservoir tank and started the car, within 10-15 min i had to shut it off because it got to the red line again. i opened the reservoir and coolant came out from the pressure, but when i put my hand on the tank and touched the coolant in the tank, it was cool. is it possible to have a bad heat sensor??? my fans came on quick too. im at a lose as to what to do now. oh, and its said that a 195 degree thermo is recommended which is what the stores give you unless you ask for a 180 degree thermo, should i switch to a 180 thermo.?

Just wanted to add a helpful tip for anyone that has this trouble down the line, some may alreay know this. my friend from Audi came over last nite to help with these air pockets, well he hooked his computer to the car so we knew the exact temp and everything, well, while the motor was running, he grabbed the throttle and opened it up and let it run like that for about a min or so and as he did, it started to force air bubbles out and into the reservoir tank. it really seemed to help and we were able to get the car to start to work properlly again(fans kick on and do their job, yada yada yada). the cooling system had alot of air in it. more than i thought it would of had.
