I know someone who drank lots of absinthe and then thought lots of chickens were out to get him ( a la zelda). He was cool after an hour or so when he figured out that the chickens liked watching comedy central. Another guy was sitting outside arms wide open staring at the sky. He said something about butterfly's taking him up to heaven.

I would never try the stuff.

I get it up until he says you taste it, but then it needs "two more measures of water."

What does this mean?

" Absinthe is legal in most of the European Union and was never banned in the UK, Spain or what is now the Czech Republic."

Which is why my friends have brought several bottles of this back to the states after visiting London. I will vouch for this stuff. "Produced in Czech Bohemian mountains"

It tastes like herbal black licorice. And, as others have stated, it is a different kind of drunk. It's uplifting and clear and crazy on top of the 55% alc. drunk. Get the real stuff from the EU or don't waste your $.

That said, I've never been moved to buy it online. The cost is prohibitive. I can buy a lot more beer, tequila, vodka, bourbon, etc for the same money as a bottle or two of absinthe. I've had other friends try to make some with poor but drinkable results.

We brought back 70% from Germany. I didn't know it was so good. I should have bought an extra suitcase to bring back more. Next time I will.
