i agree with john, ballston is an expensive area to live in. if you want somewhere cheap with metro access look farther out into fairfax or springfeild. or you might want to look into rooming with someone. good luck and welcome to the neighborhood

Third that... it's the "walking distance to the Metro" that makes it expensive. If you post (or PM) your desired price range, we might be able to help narrow it down.

Maybe try looking for rooms to rent in the Clarendon area?

Look for listings on washingtondc.craigslist.com, too.

This is going to be for the next couple years so no short term lease. I got one roomate thats going to be working with me for a defense contractor. I want to keep it below 1k a piece per month... mainly I need some good nightlife in the area that I don't have to drive to. Coming from college is going to be a let down specially since ours has been ranked like 3rd by playboy for hotest women (JMU). Clarendon is the main area I would like to live in but trying to avoid the ghetto.

$2K a month should be doable in Clarendon/Courthouse/Ballston/Rosslyn. All of those areas have nightlife nearby and the Metro within walking distance. Check out www.washingtonpost.com's classified section - they have a pretty good rental section.
