Dang... nice find! <jealous>

Those 3.8L's are fairly reliable too. They're essentially a 302 (of the legendary SB Ford series---221, 260, 289, 302), with cylinders 7 and 8 chopped off. I think the only issue with them have been with head gaskets (aluminum heads on an iron block), but I'm sure you're the type to watch the coolant level and temp gauge. If you get too attached to the vehicle, there are a bunch of 3.8L enthusiasts (Mustang crowd) out there.

Congrats!

Looks like you need a new hood. If you are interested I have a taurus just like that(red with red interior), and it is being sold for parts. The trans went bad, and I'm not gonna fix it. The corner lenses and new wheels and tires are gone. The hood is in great shape. Let me know if you are interested.

thanks for the offer randy, but the paint is actually in great shape. what you see is dirt.
it sat outside for about a month and had leaves and snow build up on it.

but i might be getting in touch with you if i need any other parts.

Is the hood dented (bent) or just popped open in the picture?

I just got a 2002 Chev Malibu V6, w/remote start and new tires. A little more than 500.00 though.

I'm surprised - for well less than a Malibu you could have had the SVT as your beater ... congrats though

You might want to throw a tranny cooler on there. Its a pretty cheap (30 bucks) investment, and it usually keeps things cool. Not that its the winter already, but every little bit helps the AXOD.
