Will this fuel pump work for my 2000 returnless mystique (zetec / atx)?

Part no. 3S4Z-9H307-BC SVT Focus Fuel Pump

Thanks a lot.

That is the one I used.

I ordered the above pump and a new ring seal for the OE contour pump. I've been looking through various how-tos on it but it seems there are different ways to do it. Some people swap the whole assembly, and others, as I understand it, change just the pump itself. I'd like to keep this as simple as possible, what's the best way to do it?

Also, it looks like a real pain getting that lock ring back on. How did other people manage that?

Just change the pump out.

Keep the same housing.

The filter attached to the old pump clean (with clean gasoline)and reuse. The one that comes with the Focus pump won't fit in the Contour housing.

I had to reverse the wiring. Nothing really hard....had to trim a tab on the inside of the harness. You will understand once you see it in person.

The trick to the ring is when removing it.....DON'T BEND IT!

One more thing....once you are ready to do this....drive you tank down to almost E.

It's not that hard for the lock ring. Make sur the tabs are all lined up then I tapped it with a hammer.

The second time around was about a 15 minute job.

The housing or pump depends on what you buy. I bought mine from Autozone because of the warranty, but they don't carry the housing, only the pump and screen, which needs to be purchased seperately.

Well, I ordered my parts last Wednesday from Bill Jenkins, paid for overnight shipping, and now, Monday night, I'm still without a fuel pump. I emailed Bill and he said he would check into it but I never heard anything else. Bill seems like a nice guy and all but this is getting annoying now.

I cleaned the filter and put the old (dying) fuel pump back in. I'm worried, though, because I reinstalled it without a gasket, as the old one was too stretched out.

Sometimes you have to wait for the parts to get to them before they can send them to you. As far as running without a gasket, not sure how bad that'll be. I would try and squish the old one into place just so you have something for the time being...

If you are running no gasket....don't fill up the tank.

Gasket came, parts were installed, all is well. Thanks for the help.
