timing belt if you have never done it otherwise just keep up with keeping it running

Inspect your vtec control valve.

130K miles. Congratulations.

Assuming you did the 120K mile severe schedule maintenance of oil/filter, spark plugs, air filter, PCV valve, inspect (drive belts, hoses and coolant strength), I would suggest going back to 69K miles on the severe schedule in addition to shortened intervals for fuel filter (2 years).

Well, my '98 has 430,000km (about 267,000 miles), and she's been a treat. I've done a lot of highway and city driving.

The only 'major' item that I've had to replace is the VCT solenoid a year ago, and an alternator... (whoopie...)

There's always the stuff like )2 sensors, PCV valves and such, but I consider those to be maintenance...

Other than that, follow the maintenance schedule, change the timing belt (and water pump!) when necessary (anywhere from 60K km to 100K km).

I should probably change my PCV valve.

I changed waterpump, timing belt, flushed coolant, new plugs, air filter, I didn't replace my serpentine, but I should, it's got lots of cracks. I just turned 124k.

I'll sell you mine for $3500. It's had lots of maintenence done, and runs perfectly. And it's got a tach and a cool shifter knob. But I won't sell it for less than $3500

Buy mine. Cougars have a TON of problems. Contours are so much better. I'll sell mine for $3499 and has lots and lots of neato stuff.

Yeah I know. Doesn't hurt to put a sign on it and get the word out a bit though. I am selling a few things off of it.

Hmmmmm.... 98 Mystique with VCT Zetec, 227,000km - runs like new. I printed all service records from a previous owner, and seems like no major stuff was ever done, or needed. It had a noisy pulley on timing bels, so it got changed with the belt and tensioner since it was in there, but that is all (filters, plugs, fuel filter at regular intervals). It does need new truts at some point, but they are just getting soft now. Still get ~660km on a tank highway driving.
