Hi, does anyone know where I can get a trouble code downloaded from my car without having to pay Ford $100 for
the deed? I have a CEL on at the moment, and the local
Ford shop wanted $90 etc plus had the car for a whole day and never got around to it. Apparently they need a 'specialist' to operate the OBD reader if you can believe
that.

wow... walk... no RUN away from that stealer! and leave them with 2 big black streaks in their "breezeway" where you bring your car in.

The place I go to was charging me 20 bux to read and help diagnose my cel's with a snap on scanner. You can buy a basic scanner for $150 and up for the OBDII's.

As a note to all Vancouver SVT owners, Brown Bros is making a big effort to accommodate the aftermarket crowd. You can actually speak to the mechanic instead of having to be filtered by the front desk 'service advisors.' PM if you want the SVT mechanic's name. Brown Bros has one guy specifically working on SVT's altough that means Mustangs and not that many Contours. When I saw him on Friday, he was installing a Vortech s/c into a Cougar. He actually was nice enough to fit me in for a CEL reading on 3 hours notice. Imagine that from a Ford dealership!
