Ouch I'm going to see what I can figure out after work today when I get my oil changed. Hopefully its either something easy to fix, or doesnt need to be fixed immediately. My boss isnt going to like me requesting a half day with no notice.

I am still trying to get my alignment straightened out after changing my lower control arms. Firestone got the wheel just about straightened out and the set the toe how I asked but in the wrong way I told them to set it with 1/16" toe-in, I measure it up myself when I get home later in the evening after dinner, drove it first, and it is toe-out 1/16th of an inch

at least it drives better then before

LOL, I'd so do that if I wasn't just out sick for two days with a sinus infection. I'm thinking that if I just explain the situation, that my car is acting up a day before I'm taking it out of state to a car show he'll understand. I'll just submit the request now and see how it goes. Thats my only chance.

They're like $6 from a dealership and they are easy to install. Quit being a cheapass!

They want $10 each here at Seely. Not being cheap, being conservative.

i'd be more worried about a $35K lease vehicle than a $6K financed purchase.

Not me, I would not give two shats what they did to my leased car as long as it worked and looked good. Becuase once the lease is up, its someone elses problem. It wont come back to get ya. Its the the price that matter, its the fact that one is basically a rent a car.

ah, young, foolish rawbutt.

99.9% of all cars are "rent a car". who really keeps their car forever??? i'm sure you "think" you will... but something else will come along soon enough and you'll be selling it. and it's not like you can turn in a big pile of crap at the end of the lease, ya know. not to mention, many people keep their cars at the end of the lease.

What is going to take more than an hour to diagnose?! Fugg I take mine to a local shop sometimes. Get there at 8am and I'm out by 9am usually.

My intake pipe couplers came in the wrong size. (My fault) Rushed to send them back for an exchange but the company is moving too slow.

Went to pick up 2 CSVTs yesterday to find out AAA won't tow them for me because they are not registered. I need to pay alot for the tows.

Brakes need to be painted, but had no time so I took today off from work to do them.

Onsite computer repair today at 4:30 for a customer, which means I need to get going.

My car is nasty and will have no time to clean it except a few hours after work tomorrow.

that sucks.
i got Jess' caddy towed up from RI without it being registered.
i just put plates on it and told them i just bought it.

That's what I wanted to post somewhere on here to ask about. When they ask if the car is registered and you say yes to them and give them the plate number, do they verify this at all or just say ok?

Otherwise I will call back and do it again.

wouldn't then a bill of sale or the title be enough, sounds like they just want to make sure that the car is really yours
Posted By: ElKy Re: Last minute problems!! - 05/16/06 03:58 PM
i have never had them say no when i have given them a plat enumber.
i dont know if they verify it or not.
i think they want to know its registered which in MA means its insured, to cover their arses.

i didnt even want to tell the guy i just bought it.
but he asked and had no problem with it.

Won't work. I'm picking them up from the owner to get them off his hands because he needs them out of the 2 lots they are in. He is getting an earfull about that.

I'm paying him later for them, so no titles or paperwork till paid. (Couple months)

I'm plagued by constant rescheduling of school requirements. One requirement, an interview "test"-Thursday at 8:30am, won't be rescheduled by the instructor and she assigned these dates by random! I explained my situation, and that I planned this trip for a year, etc. She didn't care.

So I'm still meeting the crowd and following to Fort Wayne, instead of heading to Stazi's early and installing my headers.

It's been a [censored] year! I think I'll have them up for trade.. though they are 3 bolt flange..

All else is well with my car, though it is FILTHY.

Nothing here....packing tonight, cutting hair tommorrow, Thursday morning I am cleaning the inside of the car.
Posted By: blu_fuz Re: Last minute problems!! - 05/17/06 03:43 AM
Well, had to change knuckle, found out that any "new" knuckle needs to have the updated tie rod end if you own a '95 or '96..... so I changed my tie rod end last night and about a week ago my indiglows 1/2 of them stopped working ugh - so I had to open the dash up again and take care of that and I changed my burned out high beam indicator on the dash finally....

I checked my spark plugs too and I encountered something.... Do dealerships put oil in the holes in the valve cover where the spark plug wires go in? Does that make a better seal for the spark plug in the head or something? I had the same amount of oil in each of the three holes on the front of the engine....

I dabbed a rag in the holes to get some of the oil out before I took out the spark plugs so it wouldn't go in the engine. Took the plugs out, cleaned them, put'em back in and fired it up *POOOOOOF* cloud of smoke out the tail pipes! yum
Posted By: Pre98 Re: Last minute problems!! - 05/17/06 04:28 AM
Erm.. Joe. That sounds like a serious issue that you should more than investigate before you drive to SZ.
Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Last minute problems!! - 05/17/06 04:44 AM
Sounds like bad spark plug tube seals. If you plan on doing an intake rebuild, pickup some new valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals. That'll seal everything up real nice, and you won't get oil down on the plugs.

Prob from the gaskets on the valve covers.

Not a big deal as everyone stated. THe car will still make the trip fine. It smoked because that oil went down into the cylinder when you removed the plug. Just get some new gaskets/seals.

Yah, I know it wasn't a big deal and it does not effect the driveability of the car... I had new valve cover gaskets installed no more than 5 years ago along with a new rear head...

sooo no one answered my question.... do dealerships put oil in by the plugs to help seal everything or does that seem silly - I havn't checked my plugs since I had the head replaced 5 yrs ago so they might have put the oil there... I guess I will find out with time kuz if it is leaking from the valve cover gasket then eventually there will be oil there again... - JOE

Ummm never heard of some puting oil in the plug holes. My Talon done the same thing, sorta made me mad.Change the plugs required taking plugs out to drain oil from holes, put old plugs back in to burn oil out of cylinders, take plugs back out ,install new plugs.Plus if the put oil in the holes the inside of the boot would be covered in oil, which yours are probly not.

5 years is a long time man! I had oil sitting in one of my spark plug holes, and the car is 6 years old. Gaskets wear out, and that's all those spark plug tube seals are. Just a rubber gasket. I'll bet money that's what it is, as that's the only way it could get in there.
