Need your final thoughts on Show n Shine awards

With SZ 06 Registration just around the corner, I need to figure out t-shirt prices, award selections, etc so Mark and I can base the registration fee accordingly.

So with that being said, what awards would you like to see given away this year? I know some others wanted awards for speakers systems and other stuff.

Award categories that come off the top of my head are:

Seperate Categories: Every car is allowed to be voted for (1) Class of his/her choice.
Best SVT Contour of Show
Best Non SVT of Show
Best Forced Induction of Show
Best Interior of Show
Best Sound System of Show
Best Paint of Show
Best Engine Bay of Show

Everyone thats registered for the Show N Shine gets voted for this one as well.
*Best Overall Car of Show*

Again, these are just suggestions. If the majority doesn't want one of these awards, we'll scrap it and possibly add it with something else. Id like to keep the registration fee right around $25-30, so let's try not to get too crazy. If you like what you see, tell me! If you have another suggestion for an award, tell me! If something needs to be scrapped completely, tell me! SZ 06 is all about you guys and what you want, so gimme your thoughts!

Included in the Best of Show award should be some thought about the car with alot of attention to detail, i.e. how it flows, does it look right, etc. I'd like to donate a bottle of Griots "Best of Show" to the winner. I WILL BE THERE NEXT YEAR, even though I'm a troll. BTW, can I be on the judging committee Jim

I think those awards are fine.
I'll be happy no matter what, even if there were zero awards.

I like the award ideas, Jim, considering it opens up opportunity to many many more cars than just a few options by class.

How about Best Exhaust Tone of Show?

Looks good, as long as we're going for quality of sound on the stereo award, and not how loud we can all play bass test by the chemical brothers :P

can a nice forced induction SVT win both best of forced induction and best of SVT??

that would be dumb if so...it doesnt get a chance for the non-turbo NICER svt's get a show.

Each person can only register for one class only.

What about an all around best of show?

Chances are, somebody will be taking home 2 awards if we do that, but its up to you guys.

I'm not sure which category I feel I'd have a decent run in. I'm compelled to enter Best EngineBay of Show but that will include you turbo and supercharged fellas; that just isn't gonna happen

I donno, maybe I'd feel safest going with Best Non-SVT of Show. Time will tell

Chances are, most FI guys will choose to be in the FI class, so they wont have a chance of winning Best Engine Bay of Class. However, if FI want to be in Best Engine Bay of Class that is up to them. People will be able to choose whichever class they feel they have the best chance of winning. I mean, some bone stock SVT Contour may win the Best SVT Contour of class, because all the other SVT's may want to be in one of the other classes.

However, everyone will be judged for the Best Car of Show.

If it's going to exist for sure, i'm entering best interior.

Depends on how the stereo system award is presented. If by sound only, then I'd say the trunk will be included in interior. If it's judged by sound and/or looks, then it should be separate from the interior. What do YOU people want? Jim and myself want to make YOU GUYS/GALS happy!

You include the trunk in the interior comp and i'll have a DARN GOOD chance against the work of mister Mikey.

I think the stereo award should take into account presentation of the equipment, IE enclosures. however, if you have a custom trunk for say.... go juice, and maybe a sub (and you arent entering into best sound system) then that should go into the interior category

Also are we planning on having the stereo award seperate from everything else? kind of like the best of show plans to be? Or are we saying that if you enter the stereo you cannot enter say best SVT...

Good point, you could include the trunk in both catagories.

Honestly, I think Best Car Stereo should be based on craftsmanship, presentation, and originality. Not how loud you can play it imho.

Nobody is gonna have a dB meter there to measure whose is louder. Some people may have bass monsters and others may be shooting for sound quality. If thats the case, then we would have to do 2 seperate car audio awards. If its purely based on how loud you can play your system, I think were gonna have a lot of unhappy people saying, "My system is a cleaner install." or "Yeah, there system is loud, but it sounds like crap."

I would love to hear Bob's stereo to compare it to mine. I have the October 2003 issue of Car Audio & Electronics and I would venture to say that I check out the feature on his car at least once a week.

I feel one of the greatest attributes to Bob's setup is that he has to have GREAT "Up-Front" subbass thanks to having 8" subwoofers in his FRONT DOORS.

I have to say though that I very much so love my stereo for what it is and for my listening preferences.

Well, maybe not. Anthony Davis' (2DEEP2) SVT has a much more elaborate install than mine, and when his system is "on", it is pretty tough too. Problem is with Anthony's car, it is "off" more than it is "on" lately.

And although I have not seen SQL's system, I am sure it is very capable of sneaking up on us too.

Not sure... he was having SERIOUS dash warp issues this summer that the dealer wouldn't do anything about. I think he was having to re-do some of the dash himself during the second half of the summer. He is probably heading to Kansas City for this weekend's IASCA/USACi World Finals.
