Basically what I want to put together here is a list of possible retail store or even general purchasing discounts and benefits that many of us have or have had access to. Usually, when it comes to purchasing something at a retail store, or in any service for that matter employees always have a little bit of leeway or benefit when it comes to making purchases. I mean I'm not saying go to the store and ask for the employee discount by any means, but this kind of information may come in handy when making a big purchase, or even when trying to negociate. Whether it's a car, a computer or a candy bar, you can negociate for anything and if you know what the employees get or what the general markup on a product is. So please if you can, post the store, location, and obviously the discount available and please separate them, like CAR-related and NON-car related:

From my experience and from friends experience.

CAR RELATED
Part Source: Item Cost price for employees.
Wal-mart (CAN): 10% off all auto parts and accessories.

NON-CAR related
Staples: Business Depot (CAN): 15% of all office supplies everyday, 10% off everything else (computer hardware, business machines, etc.) 6 times a year.

Futureshop/Best Buy (CAN): Employees can purchase any item in the store for the item's COST-to-store price + 10% of the item price on top (think of it as a 10% tax). If you're a senior or top salesman there you get RAW COST.

Lacoste Clothing: $800 Clothing allowence per year + cost on clothes.

Tristan & America: 40% off all regular priced clothing and accessories (ties, belts, etc.)

Goodyear: Employee price on tires and employee coupon for most tires and after all that, still cheaper to buy online even with shipping.

+ When you are Car audio salesman, installateur or manager you got DEMO CAR discount price from the compagny like:

MTX give 70% of the retails price
Stinger give between 50-75% off the retails (including dream series)
Infinity give 50% off the cost price (which is already 50% off the retails)
Dynamat is 65% off the retails
Rockford Fosgate give 75% off the retails
Pioneer give 30% off the retails on deck and amplifier and 50% on speaker
MB quarts give 60% of the retails price (which mean i can get a Q series 6.5 component set for 600$CAN)

I assume you mean from like tirerack? hrm, good to know though, especially if I go to a good year store, I'll befriend the employee.

It was +5% at my old Best Buy...
store 617, and please post ALL Car audio discounts you can, because I'm going to put all infinity's in my car now with 75% off freakin hell.
Mine's an awful long list...

Cellular Services:
Employee pricing on Cingular, Nextel, Verizon, and Sprint

Home and Office:
10% off 1-800-Flowers
Employee pricing with Office Depot
Employee pricing on all GE Appliances

Computers:
Corporate pricing with Dell, Gateway, and Toshiba
Microsoft Employee Discount

Vehicles:
Invoice Pricing on Audi, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, and Volkswagon. And all their related companies.

And a whole hundreds miscelleous stuff that has difficult to quantify discounts, mortgage discounts, banking services, residential locators, etc.
pretty good idea here, i think we should sticky this kind of thing.

i think the idea here is to put what kind of price you are paying, not just write down what you can get discounted....or are people supposed to PM people for detailed info?
Back in 2000 coroporate Radioshacks had 10% off everything except computers.

McDonalds gives 50% off.

Small pizza places give stuff free, just have to make it yourself.

Huh? I just said that it is cheaper to buy online than it is to get employee price and use coupons and junk. Trying to become friends with an employee is just gonna annoy them.

I reckon I should add I gets discounts from a bunch of other places.

20% of my verizon bill ,, similar from other providers.

Discounts from the big 3.

Discounts from Dell and probably a lotta other places. They never tell us what we have discounts with, we have to ask the manager to look it up. Goodyear is the suck.
I get a long list of discounts similar to sigma's.

I also get special loan and banking rates as part of employee financial services.
Now that you mention banks, I guess i'll mention mine. As a CIBC family employee (everyone practically in my family has a job conneciton to CIBC) I get approved for a line of credit faster, interest free loans for mid level purchases such as appliances or laptops/televisions.
My company just subscribes each employee to www.corporateperks.com. Meaning I basically have tons of companies fighting to give me better deals on things, and discounts anywhere and everywhere. I'm pricing out smartphones right now and think I'm going to go with the T-Mobile MDA or SDA - both are $75 cash back after rebates (plus a free Bluetooth headset). I'll use the spare money toward the phone I really want to get - a USA-spec Nokia 9300i (not available through a provider yet).

Now it's 10% off brand name, and 30% off RadioShack branded products (and a few others like Igo)

BestBuy is 5% over cost here in their Sherman, TX store for most people. New people are 10% over cost. They by far have the best employee discount I have seen.
Walmart - 10% off all products, and special pricing on Ford cars. for example I can get X plan on a mustang, but S plan on a mazda 6. So it matters on the car.

Just FYI, these are exactly the same thing. Mazda just calls theirs something different than Ford.

Good info so far guys, but please try to organize it a little bit more and just list the dollar or percentage value. Be very straight forward with it, once I've collected everything, I'm going to reorganize it and have it stickied if possible.
I'm not sure what the exact purpose of this thread is, but I'll go ahead and post here anyway. I'm getting close to buying a computer monitor, and perhaps a DLP HDTV. Is there anyone here who can help me out with a discount? I've been looking at Best Buy stuff, I've found a few things I'd be interested in there. So, I'm not sure how this thread works, but a hookup would be greatly appreciated!

As stated above, the Best Buy/Futureshop Canadian discount is there, I'm sure it's pretty similar to the US discount, if you can find a friend of yourss that works or there OR even find out the cost of the television you're set. My cousin who did work there was able to get me the cost pricing on 24month free finanacing on my samsung DLP HDTV
40 % off porn
