am i the only one with the flat ding gards on my 99 svt. ive been looking around at some pics and it looks like all the svts ive seen have rased ding gards with some shape to them. mine are flat and have no shape
Posted By: getsum111 Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 10:44 AM
I had the flat ones on my 99, that is, till I took them off.
Posted By: RawBurt Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 12:04 PM
Mine were flat as a pancake
Posted By: icysvt Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 01:53 PM
i could be wrong but i think the 98's had more shape to them alltogether. When we took mine off and compared them to my friends 2000 they were alot different in shape he actually kept mine to put on his car

Mine were flat too, most E1's are this way. They're still ugly though, so knauberize them
Posted By: Tourige Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 03:54 PM
both mine and my brothers 99 svt's were flat.

My old 95 SE was more round.
Posted By: mystiquevltwin Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 04:53 PM
my 98 mystique are flat. i actually dont think that the raised ones look too bad.

just curious as to who came up with the word "knauberize?" can't we just say "remove?"

Just curious, how many styles of ding guards are there? I think I have seen 3.

read the FAQ buddy!!

"Why is it called "Knauberize"?
It is named after the first CEGer to remove his door ding guards - Robert Knauber of the Capitol CEG."

2 IIRC

The flat ones and the raised ones (post-97 vs pre-98)
Posted By: KingpinSVT Re: flat ding gards? - 09/01/06 08:30 PM
The flat ones look like crap. The rounded ones look better.

My E1 has the rounded ones (and thats why they are still on), but maybe that is because it is the earliest of the E1s (98.5).

They all look like crap, they should all be removed. It doesn't matter if one looks less crappy.

meh. The painted ones look better and if my car came with them i probably would have left them alone...however the non painted "rubber" ones that came on my SVT were nasty and had to go.

I do think the lines of the car flow better with them taken off though.

The newer ones don't come with paint...

you have to paint them, perhaps somebody didn't paint his.

All SVT's came with painted ding gaurds.

IIRC, all Contiques come with painted ding strips. The car musta been in a shop and didn't get the strips sprayed.
