I have been wanting aftermarket tail lights for my SVT contour for some time now. I was at my local Best Buy when i knoticed a Cavalier with aftermarket tail lights. I know this may sound funny but the corner tail lights on it looked like it would fit perfect onto my contour corner tail lights. Now i know there is going to be some body work that would need to be done in order to make them fit! I was just wanting to know if anyone has tryed it or thought of it?
Give me some feedback and if someone is good in photoshop maby they could post a pic.
I think it would look hidious...
Anything is possible with body work...
You would have to get the pre-98 trunk to make it even look half way non-atrocious, because otherwise you'd have altezza lights on the outside and the big red reflector everywhere else. It would look terrible. If you want to try it, by all means go for it. Too much of a hassle and I think it looks crappy.

Different is not always a good thing.

Corvette taillights on a Mitsubishi Eclipse Rice-mobile don't look pretty.
its been thought of and nobody has done it.
I've thought alot about this lately and I'm really considering doing it in the future. No chrome, clear ricey crap.

To me, those tail lights are almost like a stock Pre-98 but with some added style. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

I think those would look good on the 'Tour. Nicely understated, yet better than stock.
nice find tony...that'd look sick on a black tour....such as yours

It would be interesting to see if it works. How much would this investment cost you? You can always return them i suppose if it doesnt fit how you want it too.
What if you took and cut the Tail lights in half separating the back up light and stop light. Then take that red reflector on the SVT trunk and shave and fill it in (then paint it back)leaving only the carbon fiber tail blinking lights. I too have a Black SVT and was looking at putting the carbon fiber one's on mine.
you could always pick up a set of regular cavalier tails from a junkyard or somewhere really cheap to make your molds and do the body work off of... that way you wont drop the cash on the real deal until you have something that works. (i'm assuming that they are real CF and will be expensive)

From back in my mini trucking day i know this isn't very hard, about as hard as welding in fillpanels/rust repair panels.

Just go to a junk yard and have the cut around 2 inch of the tail light so you have what they call the "tail light bucket" This way the tail light bolts in perfect and yo can change your bulbs very easily.

I own a cavy and a tour. The tail lights wont fit. If you are going through the trouble of custom work you might as well get Toyota Cavalier tail lights. Yes, toyota and GM teamed up and produced a toyota cavalier over seas. Do some research and you'll see.

These are the 00+ tails

95-99 tails

Here are both to compare.

Enjoy and good luck with what you do!

A friend of mine had the TRD Cavalier package shipped from overseas for his Cavalier. I know it included the body kit, and I believe the wheels and brakes were part of it also. With the turbo and the TRD kit, it was actually a pretty tastefully done Cavalier.

Sweet! Yeah cavy's are great economical cars. Do you got any pics of the Toyo Cav?

Couldn't tell you if this is his actual car, but it looked identical.

Here is what he's currently driving!

He's got the twin turbo kit installed, but recently moved down to Indy, so I don't see it anymore.
So basically a Toyota Cavalier with a TRD kit has the same styling as a Celica.

It had leather wrapped steering wheel, RHD, Wider fenders, Different taillights, Arm rest in the back seat, Carpeted trunk lid, Toyota badging, Toyota badge on steering wheel. Side markers, different corner lamps. Just to name a few.
