The steering wheel on my Sport was starting to look really bad. After seeing so many mentions of wheelskins over the years I finally broke down and bought one. I had swatches sent of a few colors, including their two gray shades to try and match my interior. The grays weren't close enough IMO so I just went with black.

I have to say that other than screwing up the stitching the install was easy and I'm very pleased with the results. When bypassing the spokes the directions say to carefully match the number of holes you skipped on the front and back flaps. Well, I know I miss-counted, so by the time I got to the end I had more holes on the front than on the back, and you can see how the cover bunched up on the right side of the bottom seam. Maybe someday soon I'll get another string sent and re-stitch it properly, but for now its close enough and looks way better. Stupid me forgot to get before shots.

did you remove the stock leather steering wheel cover or just put the wheelskins over your worn stock leather?

It went right over the stock wheel. I don't think it would fit properly with the stock cover removed since its designed to fit very tightly. If you wanted to do that you could always order a custom size.

Is this one of those $15 jobs at AutoZone or is this a higher scale one?

Very Nice. I like it. Too bad you couldn't match the original color. It does match with the dash. That wheel skin is much better than buying one of those rubber steering wheel covers.

H,

Could you provide part numbers / dimensions for future reference and for those interested in this mod?

Thanks!

Oh nice mod. Looks like you can get them here for $36 with shipping. The Contour is size C.

Looks nice! I like the 2 tone look the wheel ha snow and the black goes nice with the dash. The screwed up bit at the bottom isn't that bad either. I could live with that.

Maybe I should look into one of those, because I don't have the leather wheel like my Mystique had and it's kinda worn and I don't like the feel of it. Better than buying a new steering wheel!

the threads I've read here before about wheelskins said they removed the old rotted leather first. Maybe they were suggesting, but hadn't done it themselves.

[Edit]
just saw this on their site...

Covering Factory Leather:
Many of these models come equipped with Factory-installed leather covered steering wheels. The Wheelskins size might vary depending upon whether or not the old leather covering is removed. If the Wheelskin is to be installed over the original factory cover, you might need a larger or special order size. Please measure.

Senseless Whoring!

LOL, this picture is old, but I still have the cover and love it. Hard to belive this was over a year ago.

I bought mine directly from Wheelskins. I didn't know about the retailer Todd linked to.
